Nope, but i don’t think the existence of a pakistani community is essential for college. But thats just me.

In which case I would say, also look into schools such as Bucknell, Vanderbilt, wake forest and University of Richmond over a Babson.

Another top school is Washington & Lee in Va…

Salam folks =D
Just going through this thread and I have to say, I’m kinda scared of the competition you guys are going to put up in the applicants’ pool this year :P

LOL, JK. Glad to know my fellow Pakis share my drive and ambition, and are WAY ahead of me in their accomplishments =D

I actually have a few questions I was hoping I could get answered here. I’m planning to apply to a couple of the Ivies- those that provide need-blind admission cuz I’m in a serious financial mess at the moment XD

However, which colleges would you suggest I should apply to as ‘safeties’? Are there any that provide extensive financial aid or merit based scholarships?

I got 7A*s in my O-levels- which includes chem, phy n bio, n then switched in my AS levels to commerce and got 4As…

I have actually no college counselor or anyone to consult about my uni options abroad…but if any of you could offer me a couple of suggestions, I’d really appreciate it :)

No such thing as safeties for even US citizens seeking significant financial aid, let alone internationals.

It is hard to give advice on safeties without knowing your SAT I and II scores. Also, I tend to agree with brutallyhonest, there really are no safeties that provide signifcant financial aid to international students (that I have heard about).

Aah, thanks a lot for being ‘brutally honest’ I can now assure myself that taking a dire leap of faith and applying to some ‘crazy places’ is worth it!

I’m actually waiting for my scores for the October SAT 1 and have registered in the November session for the SAT 2s.

I have a feeling the number of applications the big schools are gonna get this year is gonna be a record-high XD

Hey guys. i haven’t posted here for a long while, but if any of you have questions, you can email me at ghazain.jamil@live.com.
Inveritas, Congratulations on a great score. What do you plan to major in at Harvard? Will you be starting in 2012 or 2013? By the way, was this your first time taking the SAT? If not, then can you share your prior scores?

thanks

Well I’m planning to major either in law or maybe computer science. This is my first attempt at the SAT. I’m going to apply this year. SCEA in Harvard and the rest I haven’t decided. I’m a senior at Choueifat and have got great ECs so I hope to have a shot. Two friends in my class also gave it and they got: 2280 (I don’t know the details yet) and 2170 (650CR, 790M, 730W, 8 Essay). Hope to be a regular contributor from now on. ;)

I think i’ll have to re-take in December :@

^ usamatiwana, Congratulations on the 750 CR score.

On the bright side: UChicago does not look at the writing score which leaves me with a very respectable 1500/1600. I’m applying there EA.

I wish I could too, but there aren’t any seats left in Karachi.
