Guys, my advice to all of you applying overseas is go to either UK or Canadian universities. They wont hassle you like US authorities might. It can work out cheaper [3 yrs v assued 4 in USA], and is just as good.

I mean McGill should be on your radar. As should UCL, KCL, LSE, Imperial alongside Oxbridge. Further, UT and UBC are also excellent.

I badly wanted to go to Mcgill once but I need a lotta aid that mcGill doesnt apparently give. besides the deadlines have unfortuntely passed now :
But what do you mean by ‘hassles from the US authorities’? are you referring to discrimination of any kind? Would you consider it unwise to study there even if you get accepted to a Ivy League?
Don’t mean to interrogate you LOL but i genuinely have these questions. I even heard that there is racial discrimination in the admissions process…which is irrelevant to me atm but I’m sure your comments would still be appreciated by aspiring applicants who are stalking this thread :P

Rme, There is no way to answer your question and figure out unweighted GPAs from weighted GPAs, with the information you have provided.

Each district has it’s own policy on how to treat Honors and AP level courses in a weighted GPA. Some will treat an A in a Honors and AP class like an A+ in an Academic class. Others will treat an A in a Honors class like an Academic AA. They may also choose to treat an A in an AP as a AAA.

^If you do not mind taking a required course in “understanding christianity” and taking five years (3+2), to complete engineering at another college, then it is okay. Will Berera pay full tuition for the two years of engineering at another college? I would check before making plans to apply.

“Berea College, founded by ardent abolitionists and radical reformers, continues today as an educational institution still firmly rooted in its historic purpose “to promote the cause of Christ.” Adherence to the College’s scriptural foundation, “God has made of one blood all peoples of the earth,” shapes the College’s culture and programs so that students and staff alike can work toward both personal goals and a vision of a world shaped by Christian values, such as the power of love over hate, human dignity and equality, and peace with justice.”

@Arsalh thanksss!!!
my stats are complicated-not that exceptional :P

Basically I got my decision early coz of the Scholarship scheme-Google Richmond scholars program. 15 k confirmed, Skype interview for 100%. And there is always need based aid.

@perazziman No offense to anyone here, the school’s official mission sound very…hmmm…indoctrinating…

KGS.
ok basically 6A, 3As (2 As are from the year they didnt give As -_-), 1 B (in Art) in O levels, 4As AS, predicted dont know.
Transcript-good, not exceptional, but decent either way.
Recommendations-no idea, didnt see them, but teacher recs should be quite good.
Essays-they were ok, i like my MIT essays more.
SAT superscore: 2120 (680 CR, 790 M, 650 W)
SAT II: 800 bio, 760 physics, 740 Math2 (good enough for me, but by school standards very average)
Toefl: 110
extra currics: i have alot, but none very exceptional. mostly school societies, 1 volunteer, 2 internships.

@bluelovexD: Yes, I think living in Kentucky, at a school like Berea could be awkward for a non Christian.

Say, congratulations on your acceptance to Richmond- a hidden ivy, known for giving generous scholarships to smart students. I believe it has a fine Physics department with a dual degree option too. :)
