The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2016

yes, Richmond is a very good school. I was looking to apply there but sadly it does not have an engineering program.

@perazziman thanks :* :smiley:
Which school are you from? :)

It’s a hidden ivy? seriously?
I applied because of its aid scene, didnt expect it to be such a good school-better than Holyoke in fact :/

I’m probably gonna do biological and biomedical sciences though :D

^Yes it is among the prestigious Hidden Ivies:

[Hidden Ivies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](The Hidden Ivies - Wikipedia)

I am not from a school, I am a Pakistani American parent. My son is a junior in high school, here in the US. He will be applying to college next year :)

union college (NY) aint there in the list… that sucks :P

Other colleges and universities of excellence that do not make the list but are given special mention in the book, The Hidden Ivies:

Brandeis, Case Western, Connecticut College, Denison U., DePauw, Dickenson U., Franklin & Marshall C., Furman U., GWU., College of the Holy Cross, Lawrence U., St. Olaf C., Scripps C., Skidmore C, U of the South, Southern Methodist, Trinity U TX,** Union College**, Wheaton (Mass), Whitman C.

Also, not mentioned are technical schools, such as, Calt Tech and MIT.

thanks perazziman… you just made me happy xD
and i must say, you’ve impressed me with your knowledge about the education structure of US ;)

^he LIVES in the US after all :P

@perazziman: wow good luckk to him then! :D

Speaking of Hidden Ivies, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Claremont McKenna! Too bad no aid for intl students :(

Wish I’d known about all this earlier! LOL. Would have applied to more than just 5 unis XD

Anyways, had my Yale interview yesterday. It wet superb! I was only the second interviewee for the alumnus, and we found a lot in common.

I wish it could guarantee something, except for the fact that I’m blindly in love with Yale LOL XD

That’s good to know leo118.
What’s your SAT score?

@leo118 Good luckkk! :D

@ Rme: 2260 (760 CR 730 M 770 W)

Thanks guys! =D

@leo118 wow your verbal scores are so good :0
Anyone applied to hku/nus?

Thanks bluelove…hope they’re good enuff to get me in :P

BTW, what’s HKU and NUS? :$

@leo118 Hong Kong university and national uni of Singapore

I wish I’d applied to LUMS and IBA.

But my mum was just more comfortable sending me to the US than our own country. How ironic LOL.

Leo do you have any back ups?

Yea, my country’s version of community college is my back up XD
I can secure a huge scholarship anywhere here, probably even study for free.

But other than that, nope, not in the US. I tried to get at least one, but as I found out, there’s no real safety for internationals who require a hefty amount of aid.

@leo118 “your country”? Where are you? :stuck_out_tongue:
I see!
Well, not safeties as such, but places you know you stand a good chance.
eg. for me it’d be Mt Holyoke

First-year student at Penn here. With regards to the interview discussion on the previous page, you should know that they don’t matter at all. The only exception is Harvard, which only interviews a short-listed number of applicants. Stanford doesn’t interview anyone.

Let me know if you guys have any questions. I was in the same position last year. :)

^ I heard Yale does the same as Harvard?
