@mchaditheyoda no you’re not. I just received my package yesterday and it says the same
Some applicants have received acceptances from lums, actually a lot of people and I’m still waiting. Does that mean Rejection?
@osamaoz7 its basically that the 1st list of acceptances has gone out.
and they had to pay their deposits by may 5th i think?
Not everyone who gets in goes to LUMS so acceptances will keep coming in till July. dont lose hope
@manotb how many lists are there?
@madhatter55 i dont think they release proper lists. more like round of acceptences go out.
The 2nd round of acceptances has started. Next round is probably in July
The deposit payment deadline for the first round was 3rd may. Let’s hope for more acceptance letters this month, the sooner, the better
Hi, I just got admitted as a transfer student from FAST University (NUCES) to Case Western Reserve University. I was in ur ppl’s situation 2 years ago, had decent but not spectacular stats 2050 SAT score, 5A*'s 4 A’s O level etc. I applied to some LAC and knew I was not getting in due to my huge financial need. I got into LUMS but the financial situation was so bad those days that I couldn’t afford LUMS too. Finally took admission into Fast University as a computer science major.
In general, I have to say that academics in Pakistan are a bit weird. You can get fantastic professors and some extremely poor ones. There were professors in FAST who did his Masters from Stanford and one who did his PhD from Cambridge. And then there are professors who have no idea what they are teaching. They avoid the important but difficult topics. They grade very poorly. So Pakistani Universities are a bit funny in this regard.
I just wanted to say that it is not the end of the world for you people. You have to be aware of the shortcomings of Pakistani Universities and should work on your own to get the best education possible. The hard work that you do on your own might not be reflected in your GPA (because of those professors). You never know when opportunities might crop up. For me in my case, the opportunity was immigration to America and getting permanent residence (green card). Suddenly i was in a weird situation. I could not afford even state colleges because I had to pay out of state tuition there and badly needed to get accepted by a good college with good package.
Case Western was one of the few colleges that accepted me. They gave me a fin aid package of 48k with 5.5 k in loans. And gave me the option to take loans on the rest of the amount (13.5k). But I’m telling this because I kind of had lost hope of receiving a good college education and had stopped working hard. And I kind of regret that now.
So keep ur chin up. Keep working hard no matter which college you end up to. For those doing computer science I highly recommend checking out the free online courses on coursera, udacity, edx and mit open courseware. You all could receive a great education if you stay motivated and do those courses along with your college coursework. Education in America is expensive and lots of locals work on menial jobs besides studying. We are slightly lucky in that most of us have our parents paying for our education and only have to worry about studies. Be grateful for your opportunites and good luck for your Alevels!
Congratulations @sohowgoodami !!!
Way to go! We can never know the wisdom behind things not working out
Hi guys . I need you to evaluate my chances . Got 1820 in SAT-1 in January, plus matric 85% and fsc 71% both federal board . 1st preference SDSB,2nd MGSHSS and 3rd Law . I’m very nervous right now after reading the thread ,how long should I wait for the acceptance ? Thanks
@Dothrakhi don’t worry. You have good chances of getting into Law and MGSHSS. I think you should try for other universities as well just to be on the safe side
@Rajper ,thanks . But are my chances of SDSB over ,and when should I expect to receive the acceptance ?
@Dothrakhi a lot of people got acceptances in the first round of offers. I’ve seen less people getting in the second round of offers so there is alot more to come so don’t lose hope! The acceptances come till july
@Rajper thanks a lot ,the thing is I was worried a lot because I had applied for the first round . And still hadn’t received anything . Still should I start to actually think that SDSB is out of the equation for me ?
@Dothrakhi you’ll receive an acceptance soon In sha Allah
You shouldn’t think that you won’t be able to get into SDSB but still if you make it to lums, you can transfer to SDSB after a year or so. Take up the offer as it comes or who knows maybe you’ll get a revised one later
@Rajper I had been told that transfers take place within schools ,and it’s pretty much impossible to transfer from different schools , especially SDSB . But yeah ,the main thing right now is that May is almost over and still no sign whatsoever of the letter
@Dothrakhi transfer is not so difficult if you have a good GPA. plus you’ll be asked to claim your major at the end of the freshman year so you can transfer easily
@Rajper thanks yaar. But my biggest worry right now is that im still not accepted ,its almost June. And Lums is my dream. I’ve also heard that some people have started receiving rejections. :((
@Dothrakhi , yes people are receiving rejections but people are also getting acceptances! Why not be optimistic then?
I believe you’ll get in easily In sha Allah
Do you have any backup plans?
Hello I have applied to lums and still haven’t received any answer from them and june is almost over. I want to my chances of getting into SDSB in the round 2. I have 3A* 3A 2B 1C in Olevels. 3As in ALevels including maths. A score of 1770 in Sat 1. Be completely honest, I can handle it.
@garbled3 you’re going to get in mate. People with same credentials as yours are getting acceptances. You might not make it to sdsb but mgshss for sure
