@ZainSD Naa didn’t even know of DSS back then. Mine were average-ish as well. And 4 decisions from where? What’s your backup. I’ve got offers from the UK but I can’t afford those.
2 acceptances:Jacobs University Bremen(safety), Drake University(a little more in grants would make it a safety as well)
2 rejections: NYUSH, College of Wooster(due to financial need)
My high hopes are from the remaining 14. If they don’t work out then Jacobs it is.
Hope we both get into Bard. Don’t know how many intl they take each year @mchaditheyoda
@ZainSD Haha yes, you’re from JT right? Who else applied for Bard?
Did you apply to SSE?
Also congrats on Jacobs, I’m thinking of applying there. Is it worth it? Or do they have a quota of intl students which might be filled?
Thank you. Yes, from JT.
Hardly anyone I know as Bard is not that good with aid. Last year a student did get accepted but with no aid at all.
What is SSE? You mean by the LUMS School of Science and Engineering or something else? If you mean by LUMS, then yes.
Definitely worth applying. Seeing that you get an American based education in Germany, its a must. Plus Germany isn’t that expensive as US, so its a big plus. They take about 225-250 students per batch, so if you do decide so be quick to apply. I know at least 10 Pakistanis who have been accepted already. They don’t have a fixed quota per country. @mchaditheyoda
@ZainSD Nice, I’m from Paragon.
Yeah, the SSE is the school of Science and Engineering by LUMS, they had their admission test yesterday, did you give that?
Also what did you write for your Jacobs supplement? Would you mind sending it to me? I need an idea on what to write.
Where else did you apply btw?
Yes I did. Do hope I get accepted here though most likely won’t be attending
PM me your email. I’ll forward it.
Have applied to HKU, Bates College, Gettysburg College, St Olaf College, St Lawrence College, Rhodes College, Denison University, Kenyon College and Macalester College.
You? @mchaditheyoda
@ZainSD How’d it go? I found it very tough.
We have Bard and Macalester in common, the rest of the places I applied to were probs too good for my stats. Emory, Vanderbilt, Harvard (only because that’s my dream uni), Grinnell, Hopkins, NYUNY (though I probably wont be able to afford it), Lafayette. Applied to SOKA too but they asked me for some kind of report which I couldn’t get made so that was a waste of money, time and some very long and very good supplements.
Physics was tough in terms that it was too conceptual. Maths and Chemistry were easy.
Did you apply to any safeties? All of those universities are reaches mostly.
Macalester too is need aware so I expect a rejection from there.
@ZainSD Idk I found Math tough as well, (and I have 800’s in Sat Math and in the Math 2 subject test), never was that good in Chemistry and Physics was very tough. Really just wish they took the Sat subject test scores this year too. No safeties, maybe only LUMS but the way my test went, I think I have chance of rejection from there as well.
P.S. I PM’ed you my email.
I think keeping Further maths in A levels helped a lot for the Mathematics section :3
Studying SSE with SAT 2 books was not that useful.
I applied to both Science and Humanities school at LUMS so I do hope I get into either one. Which program(s) did you apply to LUMS and abroad?
Yeah. Got your email.
@ZainSD yeah I applied only for the SSE. Most of the unis that I’ve applied for, I’ve applied for CS, but in some I have applied for Mechanical Eng. All the offers that I have from the UK are for Mechanical. You?
I just hope LUMS takes my SAT 2 score for account. It is decent.
Waiting for your mail then.
I have applied for Mathematics or/and Economics both in LUMS and abroad.
Getting admitted for engineering in the US is quiet a tough task.
I’ll mail you by tomorrow. Have two exams tomorrow.
@ZainSD Why exactly is getting into engineering in the US tough?
And thanks.
The fact is engineering is expensive and Intl requires significantly more aid, so they take a few on required aid.
@ZainSD not that expensive especially when you compare it with something like medical, anyway I have opted for computer science in most places.
do you guys know any us citizens applying from pakistan into grinnell/boston/richmond level universities or beyond (since you lgs guys have looooads of connections and knowledge in general)?
my stats somewhat meet those places but II think there are loads in my boat given how widespread citizenship is (not in the international pool)
@PakRambo No one that I know of. I don’t think there are many US citizens with decent stats applying from Pak this year.
@PakRambo One of my friend is a US national who is applying with decent-ish stats.
Did anyone get a Dartmouth interview? Many of my classmates and friends from other schools told me that they were selective this year, like 20 people from Pak got it in total.
