The Official *UF* Class of 2019 Results Thread

Ok good to know. Last question, do you have to read into the letter or is it pretty obvious you have been accepted?

First word, I believe was congratulations.

Does UF give any merit based scholarships other than the three that were previously listed (alumni, sunshine, gatornation)?

One more day Guys!! I literally feel sick to my stomach haha GOOODLUCK to alll of you guys!

@Kazy11‌ I’m so nervous!! I’ve been thinking about it all day! I can’t even focus on school right now.

@esereht694290 They do, but UF isn’t know for giving many merit scholarships. It does a much better job with need based scholarships. See page 12 for more info in the attached link.

One of the better known merit programs is the Lombardi Scholarship. Keep in mind that most Lombardi winners will also be getting Bright Futures ($3K+ a year), so Bright Futures+ Lombardi will cover Tuition cost.

@itstamara‌ same!! I’m literally blowing off everything. 6pm tomorrow is going to take forever!

Are there any stats as to ‘pictures’ of the kids who got these scholarships? Obviously we can’t see everything admission sees, but maybe their baseline gpa and test scores? Just hoping to get a better peek into what they’re looking for.

Note that the John V. Lombardi Scholarship Program is only for Florida residents.

Since esereht694290 was asking about the alumni, sunshine, and gatornation scholarships, I assume we’re talking about OOS scholarships. Gator88NE previously posted some stats about the numbers of these scholarships, and for the 2014/2015 school year, there were 12, 17, and 42 Gator Nation ($20K), Sunshine ($16K), and Alumni ($8K) scholarships awarded, respectively. There were 569 OOS students enrolled last year (out of a total class of ~6,500). Unfortunately, the Gator Nation scholarship doesn’t even cover the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition.

This wait is painful even as a parent.

I’m even considering skipping on my English classes tomorrow just so I can hold hands with you guys before we click “Log on”!

Ugh I wish I were able to check my status early or find some way to! This wait is INSANE.

Ah, that’s part of the fun! All of my students know about tomorrow, and I made it clear that I want to have that day completely to myself. Regardless of the decision, I want to go to bed with it, you know?
It’s Carnival time here in Brazil this week, so either I see myself in total merriment, or… Well, I would hope that my sorrows know how to swim, because they’d have a rough time if things went south. ;D Bwhahah!

I dont know how Im going to sleep tonight with this looming over my head

@KRZA17‌ Same… I can’t even focus on typing this paper that is due tomorrow.

Hey guys! Fellow applicant just now jumping in. I attended a UF tour/info session in January, and the admissions officer who spoke said it was possible that the decisions would be released before 6. . . possibly around 5:00/5:30 pm. I’m sure there’ll be some crazy students frenetically checking before 6 anyways (coughnotmeofcoursecough), but just wanted to let you all know! With so many people flooding in, the site will probably crash and everyone will be stuck waiting to check their decision later anyways. . .

Ah, thanks for the notification. If only it was posted Thursday instead of tomorrow…

@itstamara If only!

@starflake‌ Woa! Thanks for the heads-up buddy  I totally agree with that. Imagine over 25 thousand people trying to long onto their accounts at once… If it’s like last year then yes, it’s definitely going down, at least temporarily.

Yup, the admissions officer pretty much said it was a guarantee that the site would crash and UF would get hundreds of emails from panicked students who couldn’t access their decisions, haha. She literally said something like, “If that happens, just relax, go eat some dinner, and come back later.” Sound advice! Following it will be difficult. Lol
