I'm not that familiar with IB predicted scores. I presume your 39 is out of a total of 42 (i.e., not counting the long essay). Your GCSE is below U-M standard but your IB is in range; so is your SAT I.

oh haha I meant I got A's (6 and 7) for 4 of my subjects and B's (5) for the other 2.

Your IB score at 36/42 is below U-M standard too. Academically it's most likely a reach for you.

[ *] School Type: Private, feeder.
[ *] Ethnicity: Arab American
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness: Extensive travelling experiences, 15+ countries, counts as a strong diversity factor? / SAT is really weak unfortunately.
[ *] Other Factors/questions: Deferred regular, really regret not applying early, I just wasn't sure if U-Mich was going to be an option till mid December.

Chances?

Edit: I think my major problem was that I didn't sit for any O-levels. U-Mich DID email me about my O-levels a week after my application was complete, and they wondered if I sat for any O-levels. I think it was a major mistake that I relied on the ''being american'' factor on not sitting for O-levels, because apparantly U-mich did care about them since they accept a bunch of people from my school per year.

he20: Agree with GoBlue, probably a reach due to avg. SATs and OOS status. With great essays could be a match. That research at Cornell and JHU will help though.

beejay: Probably a reach, due to scores and OOS status. I'd be very curious to see what Alexandre puts you at though, since he's the UAE representative.

Good luck!

[ *] Other Factors/questions:

you should be fine, i'd be pretty surprised if you didn't get in...

Okay, thanks.. I was worried because I had heard a lot of people saying that I should have applied earlier, even though the deadline was February 1st.

well you should have, but i still think you're pretty good. if you dont get in though, it will be bc you applied pretty late. good luck though!

taav_2,
You are a strong candidate and I like your chances. Don't worry about applying late...not when you have strong stats like yours. I know of a few students applying on practically the last day in previous years and still got in.

p.s. For this year, I think everyone applying after the PR deadline were "late".

I am currently a junior, but want to know my chances for next year.

[ *] Essays: should be good
[ *] Teacher Recs: should be good (had straight A+'s in class)
[ *] Counselor Rec: should be good
[ *] Hook (legacy, recruited athlete, etc.): nothing really
[ *) Location/Person: IL
[ *] State or Country: US
[ *] School Type: very competitive public
[ *] Ethnicity: Indian
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness: Low GPA? Course load may not have been great freshman + sophomore year compared to other people from my school.
[ *] Other Factors/questions: Reason for weak course load first 2 years was I moved from a less reputable school and thus had to take summer schools to catch up with fellow peers.

collide: you will get in, and you have a decent shot at the honors program, if you're interested in that.

collide: Apply early (October), and you are all but guaranteed admission!
