Wouldn't it be wise to check/analyse the "OMG xyz did not make it yet" thread from last year, and see how long it took people to get confirmation?

I'd be all up for a regression line (er, it wouldn't be linear; close to the deadline = more turnaround time), but I don't have the dates for the things I've sent in.

how do we know if supplementary recs arrived? and also i'm pretty sure it'll look confusing, cuz my sup rec was written on teacher rec a... since it was another math teacher

You should have mailed it with a carrier, like DHL, UPS, USPS, or FedEx to confirm that it reaches. I sent mine out on October 30th from Bangalore, India, and it was processed on November 7th.

I'm applying EA. Now I'm really worried. It's been over two weeks, and still no word yet. I don't want to be rejected before even being reviewed.

Thanks for telling me that mootmom. It made me feel better for a bit. I'm just a little scared because this teacher is known to forget things, even though I told him every day the week leading up to when he claimed to have sent it. Oh well, I'll see this week, and then I'll start panicking like crazy if it doesn't process.

Vu preuss, remember what everyone said way back in second grade? Take a chill pill!

MIT has to have the best admission process ever... I mean think of it... they extended the deadline because of server troubles, have a group of touring, blogging, forum-posting ad coms, forgive late teachers and encourage you to do everything you can to let them know you better. Don't fret about it; Ben's even said that they don't look down upon late recs, in fact, he said they feel sorry for the teachers and all the recs they have to do this time of the year. You'll be fine, and I don't think they'll reject you before reviewing you :)

The funniest thing ever, I said the same exact thing on some of these threads that MIT is the best admissions process ever. Especially when benjones responded to a post in less than 10 minutes, I was just amazed.

Aha... wow. That does make me feel better, as I'm in Los Angeles over here. I spoke with my college counselor today and he said he did mail everything on time, and that they probably were backlogged.

And yes... the MIT admissions committee is one of the most understanding/forgiving ones I've seen. Thanks for all your hard work, everyone!

All parts in. Although I have to admit I believe I was being insidiously clever in drafting my application over the summer using last year's application. I recommend all you Juniors do the same, especially if you're really busy during school.

Wow Timur... you're really on top of things ;-)

I was planning to do that, but I was somewhat busy at the end of the summer, and ended up procrastinating. I submitted the app 51 minutes before the deadline. Go me.

Heh... I guess it's no surprise that I'm still waiting for the last part.

So yes... if you have the time, and you're not a terrible procrastinator like I am, save yourself a LOT of trouble and get things in early.
