If I have a rec from outside of school (like a boss), is there some sort of 'prompt' they should follow? And do i have to tell them what schools I'm applying to?

im not completely sure how this would work, but im guessing ur rec from ur boss must be supplemental so it would only be an essay, so there would be no sort of 'prompt'.
and yes, u should definitely tell him what schools ur applying to, theres a difference between a harvard rec and and mit rec. and also a difference between a ivy league rec and a community college rec.

Not only should you tell him where you're applying, you should give him stamped envelopes addressed to the schools' admissions office so that he can send them himself. Most employers don't want an employee seeing their recommendations.

Remember to have him include your full name, address and social security number on all letters so that schools can match the recommendation to your file. (I'm assuming that since he's a boss, he'll already have your social security number; you do not need to give it to anyone who doesn't already have it.)

Thanks!
