Hello. Uh, hazelorb, maybe you or anyone else could answer this for me - thatād be great. Iāve read (most likely) everything about Brown on this forum, so I hope I havenāt missed this. Since there are like 46 spots open for First-Years and the list posted up has far more than 46 names on it, is it then correct to assume that the top 23 people on each list will be accepted? If not, were you saying before that only 1 or 2 people decline? And this waitlist you spoke of, does that consist of all those on the list who are not the top 23 of each gender/highlighted green? I know that nothing is green yet, but Iām just really anxious to see what my position on the list means for my fate. :)

Thanks in advance for any response!

I got in! Yay!

well clearly it cannot be 23 of each gender, that would make a cogender roommate pair. it usually tends to be more girl pairs.
if you are top 15 of your gender you can assume you have a spot. after that it depends o the number of spots for your gender and if anyone declines. then it would go to the next few spots. the waitlist is anyone not in green as you said (no one is in green yet, everyone is technically waitlisted right now, but like i said top 15 are proly safe).
i also apologize you had to wait. we had the info and the new webmasters were supposed to put it up, and they didnt. expected.
if any accepted brownies have any questions just email me ā i am the only alumni advisor cochair listed on the govboard roster ;)

^ this is gonna sound really dumb, but is it possible for me to make sure you guys actually got my application? I snail-mailed it all the way from the UK and Iām terrified that the reason I didnāt get in was that you never even got itā¦

unfortunately i have no way of checking that and iām not sure what kind of action you would be able to take if your application was not read since we have a very strict reading and scoring process which will not convene again until the fall semester. :(

Donāt want to be a pest but when will they start turning names green? Now or right before housing sends out official assignments? Thanks.

not until after housing sends out assignments, goodness no one else gets to know where they are living until then why should someone who applies to brown be given preferential treatment? im sure you understand what i mean.

to be honest, i wouldnāt want to DO anything, but it would make me feel a lot better about applying as a second-yearā¦do you think it would be worth calling up? like seriously, i am so gutted about this. i CRIED.

but what good would it do? who would you call? uva housing has no influence in the selection process.

i donāt knowā¦i just sort of think that if i found out that you got it but didnāt like it, then maybe iām not right for brown, and i wouldnāt reapply next year. but if you didnāt get it, then it would give me hope to apply again next year.

of course, iām not asking to be let in this year!! that would be ridiculous!!

Well I think you should just live wherever you are assigned this year and maybe come to a couple of Brown College events (we have events for students thinking about applying). Then you would get an idea that way! Perhaps youāll be best friends with the people you live with first year anyways and want to get an apt with them. There are so many variables that youāll make your next year housing decision on.

Youāve mentioned that the top 15 from each first year list are relatively secure. What about the people on the transfer lists?

The transfer lists are a cr*pshoot ā sometimes everyone gets in, sometimes no one does. It depends on how many Brownies return and how many rooms are open, etc.

Hmm. Does Brown wait until the 2nd of July to send offers to transfer students?

It seems Iāve already received my normal housing offer and only have until the 17th of June to accept or decline. Iād really like to know if I have an offer from Brown before I go and accept the normal housing offer.
