One of my teachers has been kind of slow in mailing out his recommendation. Actually, I think that he still hasn’t sent it. I have submitted all other components of my applications, and that rec is probably the only part missing at this point. So my question is will the admissions people do something crazy like automatically waitlist me if they don’t receive ALL of the application components by the Dec.31/Jan.1 deadline. I guess what I’m asking is what is the “REAL” application deadline and will it matter if a teacher rec gets to their office a couple of weeks after the official RD deadline? Thank you all.

bump
someone please respond

err a couple of weeks is too muhc...maybe a week

i really think you can send stuff in until february, because thats when most colleges start reviewing heavily, but the later it gets the more it hurts you. something like a recommendation though probably wont matter since well, its not your fault at all.

i really doubt it will hurt you at all. they will realize its not your fault

hmm thanks... i think i'll try to get the teacher to fax a copy asap and then mail it out whenever he's ready

if you can politely ask your teacher to send it asap, that might be a good idea.

chalk, that's kind of a "no, duh" answer, but thanks anyway. anyone else?

because colleges want their acceptance percentage to be lowest as possible, theyll let as many late applications as possible come in. your recommendation may be received during that time window. during early to mid february, most colleges are probably still putting together your entire file and preparing it to be read in late february and march. so get it in asap, but im sure you wont get penalized for postmarking it late.

lol that's all fine, but are they still going to give equal consideration to my application even though a teacher messed up like that...?

wondering about the same thing here, any one knows?
