The Rice Box

I have a question. I made something with fabric and yarn for the box...and now I just read the instructions..."two-dimensional, SCANNABLE image"
Does that mean it can only be a boring image?? I wanted to do something super cool =S

well... is it scannable? I would call them and make sure what's allowed and what's not, because I know of one girl who was admitted and her box consisted of something she made using fabric.
Seriously, call them.

Mine was definitely not two-dimensional. That must be a new thing.

Where's the box? I've heard about it before, but it's not on the Common App supplement at all. At least I haven't found it, anyway.

Look on the Rice undergrad admissions page... it's called "Signature Sheet" or something, it's seperate from the common app.

oooooh I see, how interesting . . . Thank you :)

Must I DRAW something? Can i glue a photo or something else on it?

i am fairly certain you are allowed to attach things to the box,

as long as it remains 2D and scannable

Thanks........................

oh crap..i attached something that was 3d..

apparently I sent in the Rice 2008 (not 2009) signature sheet......

^ I don't think it matters. They've been using the box for some time, so it should have stayed the same.

but the 2008 sheet doesnt say anything about it being 2D or scannable

the 2009 one does. I guess they didnt like somebody's idea

i called them and asked and they said what they dont want things like animals and army figures sticking out haha that was funny...im assuming people used to glue actual figures and make farms??

so basically it doesnt have to be just a drawing..u can glue stuff as long as u are not ridiculous lol

rofl, that makes me wonder what the envelopes containing 3D objects (army figures, stuffed animals) must've looked like.
