Anyone else see "The Scholar" tonight on ABC?

2 Columbia admissions officers are on it. What do you all think of the show?

My friend Melissa is on the show. Evidentally she won the first major contest tonight (we are on the West Coast, so we haven't seen it yet, but I have scoured the ABC site). Definately happy for her. I know where she has ended up and very happy for her.

I am definately going to watch tonight to see how the show is conducted. I am also very proud that Max is going to Columbia and that they used two of our admissions officers. Go Columbia!

i watched it and i think that the show and the contestants are too dramatic

Yeah, I think its a bit dramatic too. But its kinda funny (even though I HATE WalMart...they dont sell glue, super glue, white-out, or paint to people under 18. W T F?)

Anyway, yeah...but $50,000 is a lot of money. I would love to have that scholarship.

jaug1 - where did she end up going?

Wait, so what happened tonight? I missed it...

im tuned in

Hahaha ivyboy05 SO TRUE about the Wal-Mart selling policy. I walked in once to buy some compressed air to clean out my computer keyboard and when she asked me for ID I just gave her this blank stare and looked down at the can, trying to figure out if I'd accidentally just purchased alcohol or something.

Which two admissions officers?

the men .

No, I mean do you know their names? I haven't seen the TV show and doubt I'll have an opportunity, but I'm curious which admissions officers are represented. Thanks!

The Wal-Mart thing: I think you can get high from them, so you have to be at least 18 to get high. It's a fact.

heh i like beauty and the geek better

The Scholar rocks! Go jeremy(sorry, a little bit of national pride there...)

beauty and the geek is more addictive than heroin

that one little bouncy geek is so funny - i think his name is richard; actually i have no clue. but if you've seen the show, you will know who I'm talking about.

Lol I know you can get high from glue, etc., but you can also cut yourself w/ scissors and I can certainly buy those...

Exactly my point: You can't get high from scissors, but you can get high from glue.

Hence, Wal-Mart does not want any high 18 yr. olds running around their store. They only want them running around with scissors ;)

A friend of mine worked for one of the admissions officers (Shawn Abbott). I almost did, but I found other employment.

that show was a little ridiculous, on the literature quiz, I was ashamed that these people are supposed to be the "best and the brightest of US high school students" and they couldn't answer basic, common knowledge literature questions.

the questions SO middle school.
"the dermis and epidermis belong to which organ"?
My dog knows the answer.
Those 'scholars' aren't intelligent at all; they were only chosen because they're TV-friendly.

eeeexactly, simplefallout!
in my entire life i've NEVER EVER seen a REAL reality show
if they say: brightest of US HS students", they don't know how much is 2x2
in this "beauty and the geek" show, i'm pretty sure this insane :) guy (richard) and the other one, who hates him will end up in the final b/c they fight with each other
b/c this is show business, they show ppl what they want to see
b/c ppl who get kicked out, get more money than the winner
b/c show business ppl can make anything out of nothing

jeee, what am saying? this is supposed to be a college discussion forum lol
it's just that almost everything on TV is a bs

aggr! never mind
just ignore this post! :)
