The (Status) Road to Acceptance

This is mainly for next year's applicants, but also for those of us still waiting. To those of you who have been accepted--please share what statuses you had and approximately when they changed (if you know), especially relative to when you finally got your package. I have a hunch this may help prove that statuses are largely random, and possibly save next year's applicants some time and stress. Also, I think we can share other indicators of acceptance, such as what links worked/boxes/rsvp notices.

Other than that please try to keep this thread clear of clutter so that it can become a valuable resource. :)

So far the majority of people that have been accepted have had a “forwarded” status change to “being reviewed.” The enrollment deposit link works for most of these people. It doesn’t work for some because it can take up to 7 days to work.

Mine has never changed to forwarded…=( I’m losing hope now. Is there anyone who’s been accepted without the forwarded status this year?

mimizist - try starting a thread. I only JUST got switched from “fall grades” to “forwarded” so maybe you’ll change this week.

Then the problem becomes…those accepted people have already had their forwarded status for a while right =( I don’t even know if it’s a good sign to have your status just changed forwarded…sighs. But this ‘being reviewed’ since Jan is literally driving me nuts.

What school did you apply for? From what I can tell, a status change to “forwarded” just means that they are making their final decision. After that, “being reviewed” means that your letter is in the mail.

This is all just speculation though.

Well, could a decision of rejection be made this early then? Or even if it is, would they update it this early or just leave you status alone until the very end? That’s what I’m afraid of - They have made a decision, but it’s not an acceptance so they don’t bother changing it.

I applied Marshall. My stats are pretty borderline, so I’ll be happy with just CLAS…

mimizist-i am in the same boat as you; I applied to Marshall, I have borderline to below stats, and my status has stayed at “being reviewed” since January and I applied way before the Dec. 1st deadline. It has got me all panicked :frowning: But don’t lose hope, we won’t know anything for sure until we have an official letter in our hands. I wish the best for you and I hope you get in!

I applied to Marshall before Dec. 1 and my status has been saying “being reviewed” since January. Does “being forwarded” usually come before or after “being reviewed?” I’ve heard mixed answers.

opheliarose-i’ve heard mixed answers too. I believe “forwarded” comes after “reviewed”. These statuses sure have been a great source of stress for me over the months…haha

mimizist and kmart - we’re like the same people. except I didn’t apply for marshall. I have very borderline stats (gpa-wise) but i spent a lot of time on the rest of my application and thought I had a good chance of getting in. but my "being reviewed’ status hasn’t changed since early february!

gashergina-it sucks doesnt it?! Well i hope you get in! I think that all of us who are actually taking the time to panic and worry about it should get in because we obviously really want it (: I mean I had a friend at my school apply to USC just for fun, and she got in but she’s not going to go there and never planned to-it irritates me because clearly other people genuinely want to go to USC. If you don’t mind my asking-what is your gpa?

My UW is 3.5 and W 3.8 …I took all honors/AP and got TONS of b’s lol. I live in SoCal and my school is a pretty good feeder for USC so I prob. have a 50/50 chance…I hope the letter comes soon!

Good luck to you too! Hopefully we’ll hear back this week? :)

mimizist/kmart–i’m in the same boat: Marshall, being reviewed for a while now. my scores are average, but my gpa is above, so honestly I haven’t lost hope yet. I think we just have to breathe and ride the waves, hopefully we’ll find the one we’re meant to catch ;)

gashergina-I definitely think you have a fair shot at getting in! I hope we get our letters this week!!

Elle-yeah I really hope we all get in  it’s so hard waiting to hear back, and it just creates all this stress and panic! i’m sure we’ll all laugh at ourselves when this is all said and done.

I only have this status…

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

jkain-that’s the one I have as well

I applied to Marshall as well and have been at “Your application is currently being reviewed, April 1st” for many months now. It looks like very few have heard back from Marshall and a lot of people that applied to Marshall are stuck at this. They might just be one of the last schools to send out letters?

I applied to Marshall and am at the forwarded status…

Being reviewed – Midyear report – Forwarded to:

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

I currently have the above status, received the DHL email (package is coming tomorrow), and…

4 boxes in the Admission Section (RSVP, Enrollment Form, Adm. Documents, Undergrad. App)

Hope this helps!
