Great match - I wanted Djokovic to win but either would have been a worthy winner today.

I also loved how he talked about his fiancĆ© (who he has been with for years) and the ā€œjoyā€ he feels about his impending fatherhood. Also, that he dedicated the win to the coach who discovered him and who died last year. I enjoyed both of his speeches today. He also is known to do funny impressions and give to charity. But as dstark says, we all have our preferences. I like Federer too and Federer shed a tear today during Djokovicā€™s speech. The commentators said it was when Djokovic was talking about becoming a father but not sure if that was what prompted the tear or not. Djokovic 's kid should be proud to see tapes down the line of the speeches and see how happy and excited he is to become a father. He said heā€™d show them to his kid someday after they have watched hours of cartoons. I thought that was very sweet.

Still not a fan.

Emilybee, you need a sour face emoticon. :)

I wanted Federer to win, so badly, but they both played such a high level of tennis that it was worth staying up for (until 1 a.m. in Western Australia). Iā€™m so glad that it was such a high quality match. I canā€™t believe that fourth set - incredible!! The winners/unforced errors stats are great for both guys. I loved the pace of the match - we had Todd Woodbridge and John Newcombe commenting here, and JN pointed out how there was no stalling between points. Just get on with it! He also mentioned how nice it was to see the variety of shots and placements from both guys, ā€œnot just bashing from the baselineā€. Beautiful tennis.

Roger coming back in the 4th was electrifying. Mental toughness - wow. We were rooting for him, that said Novak was very classy and clearly this win meant the world to him.

Bumping for Canada and Cincy.

Some very good matches already this week.

Jo, pleased do not blow it now.

Allez! Well done, Jo!

I was at the Djokovic/Monfils match and oh my, was it entertaining! Iā€™m not a huge tennis fan but that was fun!

Lucky you. Gael is always entertaining. Shame he came up short.

I used to go to the Toronto tourney all the time - even back when it was on the old site - which I think was on the other side of York U. But Iā€™m too lazy now to make the long drive so if I go now, itā€™s only when the guys are in Montreal - which is much closer to me.

I was watching on the Tennis Channel and they said they interviewed Djokovic and he said the only player he would pay to watch would be Monfil.

Yeah, I saw that, too.

The problem with Gael is that all his entertaining cost him in later rounds because he has nothing left in the tank. If he could only temper it a bit - heā€™d still be entertaining but would win more, imo.

Anyway, good win by Jo today, but he is lucky Murray is so awful now.

Disappointed Caro could pull off the upset - but I loved her kit. Going to look for it at the Open - I could use a new outfit. OTOH, Vikaā€™s is misfortunate, to put it nicely.

Good win by Aga today but was nice to see Venus have a good run. Happy for Jo, too - though I wanted Roger to win.

On to Cincy.

Well that was fun! Good job Sveta! I think the cameraman must have a thing for her gf.

Someone needs to explain to me how Bouchard made two GS semiā€™s and a GS final. Her strokes are terrible and sheā€™s not a very good athlete. They really need to stop hyping this girl.

Big Vamos to TommyR for shoving Djoker out the door.

Nice come back from Roger in the 3rd. to take the 3rd. Well done earning #6!

Just heard Rafa pulled out of the US Open.

This is what will keep Rafa from ever being the GOAT. He canā€™t reach Rogerā€™s GS total when he only competes in 2 slams a year and one of them he is unlikely to ever win again. His body is complelety breaking down because of the violent way he plays.
