The Ultimate College Thread

I’ve been seeing a lot of “Revelle Represent!” “How is Sixth College?” and “Ranking the colleges” type of threads lately, so let’s all put our information onto one thread. This would also be good for people wanting more information on the colleges.

-Write what college you were accepted into
-Tell us about any information you know about any of the colleges

I’ll start.

I was accepted into Muir College.

I hear that Muir is the most competitive college to get into, and that it’s also the most social (as social as you can get at UCSD). Also has the least GE requirements? Not sure on that.

I also hear Revelle has painful course requirements and that people in that college generally work very hard. (this is from a friend who goes there)

Dorms are nice; people are personable and very friendly; moderate/medium difficulty GE requirements; good food; nice location; overall: good balance of academics w/ social students

What about 6th? Everyone thinks its garbage but I think it's just the opposite. You can go to the social scene (Muir) and live in a chillaxin atmosphere back at 6th (cuz it's distant from the others). It's definitely the best of both worlds.

Sounds good. I also hear Muir is near the center of the campus so more accessible to most places.

i'm in revelle. i've heard it has the most pre-meds and is really competitive. the GE requirements are demanding but it is also suitable for the pre-meds. it also has the worst dorms. i have no idea what the social scene is like.

ERC

the dorms are definitely the nicest, but i heard he requirement kinda sucks- its like a history course, so i guess it depends on if you like history or not...but for someone like me who is a science ONLY major, it sucks. i think we are also finding out it has the highest girl to guy ratio

Sixth

I hear (the only things I've heard are from this message board by the way, :P) that underclassmen dorms are like log cabins (?!).

Revelle's requirements shouldn't scare anyone ...
unless you're too stupid to take calculus

it seems a lot of people are put off by revelle's "painful reqs" and studious/competitive reputation. shrugs i dunno, but those are actually turn-ons for me.

ERC has a sushi chef! Who cares about gender?

Got into Muir. I heard they have the best dining hall, with vegetarian food and everything. That definitely works for me. The res halls also have some sweet views.

I've also heard, just like everyone else, that Revelle is the hardest and has ridiculous GE requirements.
