The University of Texas Dorms

A room with a private or connecting bath is also more expensive though. And I agree with what UTHousing said about community bath in #277 above.

So is a housing contract sent to your email after you send in the 200 dollar enrollment deposit?

Yes Jonas. However, don’t expect it to arrive instantly after you pay because housing contracts are sent in batches. It took weeks for me to receive mine.

Great. Thanks old sport.

Yea, I received my contract 3 days after submitting my deposit.

There are no toilets in dorm rooms in jester right? If the public toilets are anything like they are in high school, I’m gonna die. Guys **** all over the floor and toilets, clog up toilets, vandalize the walls and everything.

Please tell me it’s not like that…

There’s no toilets in the rooms in Jester, only a sink. But the bathrooms and showers are pretty decent. They get cleaned once a day. I’ve only stayed at Jester during the summer though. Hopefully the maturity of some people gets left at high school.

the bathrooms are much cleaner at UT than some other schools that I have friends staying it – but its still a community bathroom and its still not like just have it all to yourself or just sharing with a couple other people. When it s a community bathroom, nobody takes ownership of it or responsibility for it so they treat it a little worse. It’s not for me. That’s for sure.

As a general rule, on the weekdays the bathrooms are usually immaculate. Some people have poor hygiene habits but for the most part people clean up after themselves, and those that don’t are usually cleaned up after by the cleaning staff.

Weekends are a little different–the staff doesn’t clean on Sundays and sometimes not on Saturdays, and people tend to be a little less hygenic when intoxicated. However, it’s still generally tolerable, and if not you can usually go to a more public restroom on a ground floor and that will likely be better.

Hey guys, I am going to be a freshman at UT next year and I applied for San Jacinto. I am kind of unfamiliar with how dorm work and I was wondering what kind of furnishing they come with. Is it just an empty room or does it come with stuff. If so what does it come with? Thanks for your help!

Hey guys if i’m a fall 2009 transfer applicant and I applied in January for housing, what chances do I have to get a room with a connecting or private bath? I’m a female student.

All of the rooms come fully furnished with beds, desks, chairs and a MicroFridge. Most rooms come with extra-long twin beds.
When UT assigns dorms, do they use the housing deposit date ($50) or the contract date ($300) for priority?

housing deposit date

OK, I paid my deposit in Nov/Dec. I signed up with a friend for roommate who paid in May. Are they going to use the date I paid for dorms, or my friend’s?

Are there ******bags that like to mess around with people in the restrooms? And there are curtains and privacy right ?

@manatee
They will use the date you paid so no worries =)

@I Hope UT
I’m kind of thinking the same thing.

manatee: i think they use whoever paid the earliest, but you might need a second person to confirm that.

I Hope UT: by curtains i assume you mean shower curtains. yes, there are shower curtains. and i doubt there are those kinds of people since people generally only go into the restrooms in necessity and for a short time. but then again, the immaturity of people still tends to surprise me.

Thank Henry and Clint.

Oh, I just realize I said my friend paid in May (post 295), and it’s not even May yet… I meant that my friend is planning to pay in May. That was dumb…
