aint a very hardcore Christian. christianity teaches the qualities of kindness and non violence. he has neither. BTW It was obvious when he said that he doesnt eat pork for religious reasons that he is a muslim.
not that i have anything against them. besides, islam too preaches peace and kindness, something which doesnt penetrate his thick skull.

<p>Okay. First of all, get off of your damn pedestal. Just because you're a vegetarian DOES NOT mean you're better than a non-vegetarian okay? </p>
<p>Islamic method of Slaughtering animals is better
...scientific reason...</p>
<pre><code> Al Shaddad Bin Aous has quoted this tradition of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.) "God calls for mercy in everything, so be merciful when you kill and when you slaughter, sharpen your blade to relieve its pain".
Many allegations have been made that Islamic slaughter is not humane to animals. However, Professor Schultz and his colleague Dr. Hazim of the Hanover University, Germany, proved through an experiment, using an electroencephalograph (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) that Islamic slaughter is THE humane method of slaughter and captive bolt stunning, practiced by the Western method, causes severe pain to the animal. The results surprised many.
Experimental Details:
Several electrodes were surgically implanted at various points of the skull of all animals, touching the surface of thebrain.
The animals were allowed to recover for several weeks.
Some animals were slaughtered by making a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck cutting the jugular veins and carotid Arteries of both sides; as also the trachea and esophagusHalal Method.
Some animals were stunned using a captive bolt pistol humane slaughter by the western method.
During the experiment, EEG and ECG were recorded on all animals to record the condition of the brain and heart during the course of slaughter and stunning.
Results and Discussion:
I - Halal Method
The first three seconds from the time of Islamic slaughter as recorded on the EEG did not show any change from the graph before slaughter, thus indicating that the animal did not feel any pain during or immediately after the incision.
For the following 3 seconds, the EEG recorded a condition of deep sleep - unconsciousness. This is due to a large quantity of blood gushing out from the body.
After the above mentioned 6 seconds, the EEG recorded zero level, showing no feeling of pain at all.
As the brain message (EEG) dropped to zero level, the heart was still pounding and the body convulsing vigorously (a reflex action of the spinal cord) driving maximum blood from the body: resulting in hygienic meat for the consumer.
II - Western method by C.B.P. Stunning
The animals were apparently unconscious soon after stunning.
EEG showed severe pain immediately after stunning.
The hearts of the animal stunned by C.B.P. stopped beating earlier as compared to those of the animals slaughtered according to the Halal method resulting in the retention of more blood inthe meat. This in turn is unhygienic for the consumer.

<p>Alright look ravin, whether you choose to eat meat or not, the fact of the matter is that the animals are still slaughtered and packaged in farms and meat processing plants worldwide. Your solitary decision by itself doesn't really have an impact on the meat industry because numerous cultures and ethnicities worldwide thrive on meat. If you're vegetarian cuz of health or religious reasons then that's totally cool with me. However, if you are refraining from eating meat for the purpose of enacting a fanatical campaign for human rights, then you're really doing a disservice for yourself and the rest of the human race.</p>
<p>animals are my friends. and i dont eat my friends.
george bernard shaw said this.....
i feel exactly the same.</p>
<p>dcfca
lets not try to convert each other. :)
every one is entitled to think the way he/she likes.
but i still think vegetarianism rocks...:D</p>

"However, if you are refraining from eating meat for the purpose of enacting a fanatical campaign for human rights, then you're really doing a disservice for yourself and the rest of the human race."</p>
<p>ARE YOU INSANE OR SOMETHING. i mean look at the s h i t you write.</p>
<p>"If you're vegetarian cuz of health or religious reasons then that's totally cool with me."</p>
<p>WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE ME...AND BE COOL.</p>
<p>Haha nice response ravin, too bad I view animals as a tasty source of protein.;)</p>
<p>I don't think you should convert people.</p>
<p>But, the whole thing about how just because one person is a vegetarian, it doesn't help anything because other people still eat meat. Well...more people are turning vegetarian, be it health or moral reasons, so there could be some changes in the future. I don't expect everyone to not eat meat, but those who don't means there are less animals that need to be killed. There are also quite a few cultures who do not eat meat and thrive. Like I said, I'm optimistic. It's rude to say that none of this will make a difference. It could, you never know.</p>
<p>evil.....you really are evil :)</p>
<p>my previous post:</p>
<p>AND AND AND.....THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE OUT HERE WHO THINK A VEGETARIAN DIET LACKS PROTEIN....WELL THIS LINK IS FOR SUCH MISINFORMED PEOPLE:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.vegsoc.org/info/protein.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.vegsoc.org/info/protein.html</a></p>
<p>AN EXCERPTBUT DO READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE)</p>
<p>Being vegetarian does not mean your diet will be lacking in protein. Most plant foods contain protein and in fact it would be very difficult to design a vegetarian diet that is short on protein. Excess dietary protein may lead to health problems. It it now thought that one of the benefits of a vegetarian diet is that it contains adequate but not excessive protein.</p>
<p>a<em>ravin</em>hurt, most of the veggies that contained protien there had a BV(body absorbtion) rate lower than 30%. Considering that, one would have to eat an extra 3 times to get the actual enlisted the amount of protein.</p>
<p>For any type of althete, lacking this amount of protein is just a serious injury, or muscle tear waiting to happen.</p>
<p>elephants are vegetarians.
so are wild buffaloes. :D</p>
<p>Go Vegetarian....yay :D</p>
<p>if you want a great essay on veganism:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.goveg.com/veganism.asp%5B/url%5D">http://www.goveg.com/veganism.asp</a></p>
<p>SallyBowles,</p>
<p>Thanks for the link. You guys have me convinced. :)</p>
<p>I tried talking to my mom about it, unsuccessfully. I didn't dare mention veganism, because the reaction would've been extreme. I haven't said anything to my dad, but I doubt he'd be more supportive.</p>
<p>Me: I'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian. Seriously.
Mom (raising eyebrows): That doesn't sound like a very thought through decision. What makes you say that? Besides, it'd be so hard to get the nutrients you need.
Me: Um, I've read some articles, and...
Mom (dismissively): Read some more.</p>
<p>How did you guys deal with your parental units? Were they supportive? Since mine obviously aren't, what should I do?</p>
<p>Nooo Elisabeth, don't let the CC vegetarians convert you to the dark side!!!:p</p>
<p>I've been thinking about becoming a vegetarian for a while now, but I guess the stories/articles made me want to go "all the way". I don't crave meat anymore, even if I eat it when I have to (e.g. when nothing else is offered). I've always been repulsed by milk, but my parents make me drink it (because it's "healthy"). I don't eat eggs or cheese--I don't like the taste of either. I really don't think I'd miss animal products in my diet, and if eliminating them can help animals and help me feel healthier, I think that's incentive enough.</p>
<p>Man, I had Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta at Olive Garden last night and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!</p>
<p>I've never liked seafood. ;)</p>
<p>im not a complete vegetarian, but i am not particularly fond of meat...
i also drink a ton of soy milk (i am lactose intolerant), and i was just wondering if most colleges offer soy milk (i know they offer vegetarian meals) in dining halls...?</p>
<p>anyone know?</p>
<p>i think they do...ustas06
:)</p>
<p>anyway, for those of you who missed this:</p>
<p>EVER WONDERED HOW THE FINEST LEATHER IS MADE??
pressurized hot gas is inserted into the womb of a pregnant cow. this kills both the baby and a mother. they die a slow painful death. then the womb is sliced open and the baby skinned. this skin is used for making soft leather. :(</p>
<p>i am going to keep this thread alive till the end of eternity...</p>
