and kids who arent as qualified...like me.

lol

and kids who arent as qualified...like me.

lol

I got waitlisted.

wow. Now what do I do?

lol, Slipper, I am hoping against all odds that that's my current situation....

wash-u will not accept you if you look like you're applying as a safety. that might explain a lot of you guys' rejections. They ain't nobody's b**** (or safety)

Hey, their loss, considering they paid hundreds of dollars for me to visit them. Lol

I was also offered the paid visit, like hookem, and was waitlisted. (although I didn't even reply to their trip offer...so that might have something to do with it :P)

I have a Columbia likely though so I haven't given up hope on HYP lol. Honestly I think a waitlist at WUSTL says nothing about your other applications :)

Grr....deferred from Brown and now waitlisted from WashU. These schools hate giving me definite answers.

1400 students out of 23000+ applicants is around a 6% acceptance rate... what?

my friend and i both got into caltech and we both got waitlisted from washu...so yea washu can go eff itself

Hard to believe so many here are waitlisted. Son is wait-listed also and is very disappointed He would have liked the school and program. WUSL is the second college he apply to. The funny thing is that after he submitted the application, they sent him a letter saying that he is a good candidate for the summer research program and suggested he apply. It required a separate essay and he missed the deadline due to the hectic schedule at the end of the year with midterms and trying to beat the other colleges application deadlines. Maybe that is the reason for the waitlisted him - intepreted as lack of interest?

They accept WAY more than 1400 students! They don't have 100% yield, meaning not everyone who gets in goes there.

waitlisted as well haha...... glad not a flat out rejections. Hopefully it is because they think I can't afford the school. I'd say along the lines that "I am poor" in my essay lolz. I didn't figure out that WUSTL is need-aware until few month after I applied. Why the heck do they eliminate loans for those who are making 60,000 and below while still need-aware!!! That's why I thought it is need-blind.

can't wait until March 31st when all of you are accepted to Ivies and other top schools....I posted this on another thread....7 people waitlisted from our public NJ HS last year...of them, 1Princeton, 1 Penn, others top 20 schools and assorted top programs....keep the faith; a waitlist from Wash U means absolutely nothing for your other decisions.....

Truly unfortunate that this comes so early and you all feel like you're failures.....you'll all be fine, especially you, hookem.......

Wash U could be a little more compassionate and release their decisions AFTER all the other schools, given how many people they waitlist.......

lol, thanks rodney. I'm still feeling a little down, but I appreciate your comforting words :)

You should all know it's not unheard of to get rejected by WashU and be accepted to HYPS. If you don't show interest, they might assume you're only using them as a "safety."

wait hookem i dont get it, why would they pay for you to visit, then wl you?

^ They have some "travel grant" thing that they give to "qualified" students. It paid for my plane ticket, cab rides, food, everything. lolz

i bet you will be accepted.. i mean why would they PAY you if they weren't relatively interested?

Tufts syndrome?

Yeah, they gave it out to a bunch of people, and it was before I had even applied!

and, in reality, I don't actually want to go there that bad. The main reason the waitlisting disappointed me was because it seemed like a sign of more bad news to come.
