Could someone tell me a little bit about the weather?

From May until August, Houston is unbearably hot and humid. Fortunately, you will miss most of this as a student who is (presumably) not from Houston. It can get a little bit chilly in the winter (but don't expect anything below 30 to 40 degrees). Most of the rest of the year is really quite pleasant. Right now, it's 72 degrees outside. Make of that what you will.

It's humid, but not unbearably so.
It's sunny && rainy. At the same time.
At least that was my recollection of it when I lived there a few years ago.

It's pretty humid and hot well into the fall too...probably the worst months are July, August and September. Spring is wonderful...comes around the end of February and things are usually very nice until May. May and June are not unbearably hot either. In October, we start getting mild fronts that don't necessarily drop the temperature, but do dry things out.

Halloween costumes are kinda a crapshoot. The year a parent puts their kid in the polar bear suit is gonna be the year it is 80 degrees and humid as all getout at 8:00 at night. But then, it could also be 40 degrees...you just never know. Usually by Thanksgiving, things straighten out...but it isn't uncommon to have the occasionally balmy Holidays.
