How is the weather in Houston? Being from the North, all I see is rain and snow all year round and I'm a little bit nervous to be hit with heat and humidity. Is it bearable? Do people get sunburned a lot?

I love the weather! I’m from Philly and so glad to get away from the horrible winter (we had snow here one night and that has been one of my best experiences with snow in a while). It’s hot and humid in the beginning and end of the school year, but we miss most of the most horrible stuff in the summer. It’s completely bearable with the air conditioning everywhere. About sunburn, you have to be smart and remember to put on sunscreen and not sit for three hours at a baseball game with none on in a tank top like I did this past weekend. But from mid-October to March is amazing. Your friends and family will be so jealous.

Haha, usually people have the opposite concern (going from warm to cold). I asked people about this, too. It’s the summer months that are really bad, which means the very beginning of the year. I’m from Minnesota, so I can’t wait for the warm weather.

Minnesota’s in…the southern hemisphere?

Steff
I sent you a PM

…but sunshine and azaleas are wonderful. Most people don’t miss snowy winters and sunset at 4:15 pm.

pFNMCp, I think Modulation was referring to the weather in Houston at the beginning of the school year.

I’m from northeast Ohio, in the snow belt, where we have five months in the winter with maybe 15 sunny days total. In Houston this year, I have worn jeans every day and found it pretty ok, even last August. It amazes me how often I’m walking around campus thinking what an amazing day it is. It probably averages out to about 5 days a week, consistent through the entire school year. What I like is that bad weather in Houston is confined to a couple of days, then you have a few weeks of perfect weather. But when it rains, it pours. I prefer this, though, to Ohio’s constant fog, cold, rain, and snow.

its really warm. it can be really muggy and humid. Then again, I really like cold weather

heat really isnt that big of a deal. all the building are heavily air conditioned and everyone wears shorts and a tshirt when its hot.

Oh god hahahahaha I’m an idiot. I was really confused there. Thanks, Hermes.
