How many freshman on average are accepted into Emerson's theatre program? I mean specifically the BFA program in Acting as well as the BA programs in Theatre Studies & Theatre Education. How many audition each year and about how many are accepted?

If I'm not mistaken, you have to apply for the BFA once you are at school. The number is fairly small and if you decide to go the BFA rout, you miss out on other benfits of the college (Castle Well, LA program).

for the BFA program the numbers are really small, last year they took about 3% of the people who auditioned. you can audition for it as an incoming freshman, which i'm doing, but you stand a better chance trying to get into general theatre studies then applying and auditioning for the BFA later on. unless you're absolutely opposed to the BA route like i am i would suggest going for the BA since your chances are greater.

Incidentally, i was at an info-session for Emerson recently, and the admissions counselor made a point of saying theatre majors usually get waitlisted, so they can see everyone, and make an accurate choice...or something.

Just to let you know that waitlisted isn't necessarily bad in theatre.
