How did it go at the Parks finalist weekend? Did you get it? I hope so!!!
My D has decided on the University of Miami.

I had a great time at IC! So much fun!! and the Park School has so much to offer!

I found out this week that I did not get one of the scholarships ... at least not yet. There were 37 finalists, and they are naming 17 Park Scholars. I am one of the alternates. (I've been told they name approximately 8-10 alternates.) So, as of right now, I have not received a Park Scholar Award, but as some of those chosen turn down the scholarship, I may end up receiving one. I was obviously disappointed, but I'm excited that I'm on the alternate list.

So I'm still on pins & needles waiting to hear. Meanwhile, I'm weighing Ithaca (without the PS Award) against the other schools I've been accepted to. Haven't made a firm decision yet.

Thank you so much for your interest and support. I hope that your daughter is really happy at U of Miami next fall!! What is she majoring in there?

Congrats...even being an alternate is something to be proud of!!! Good luck to you, I'm sure you will do well at whatever school you choose.
My D will be doing a double major in journalism and political science. She is very excited and is looking forward to living in Fla, but I wish it weren't so far away.

My S was also one of the Parks Scholar finalists, but no word yet one way or the other, so we are figuring that he did not get it. He liked Ithaca enough that if he got the scholarship he was probably going to go, but, now . . . It is still on his list but falls to number two and he has been accepted at number one (William & Mary) and number three is the budget selection for us (U. of Delaware - in state).

W&M does not have a school of communications and no journalism degree so he will be an English major and just have to live at the student newspaper office. His mother and I are both W&M alums so it was/is a natural choice, although Ithaca was very nice and had the perfect program.

Good luck to you, wherever you go.

yankeegirl49,

Just wanted to let you know that I've opted not to go to IC, also. I liked the school and all, but financial aid didn't work out. Anyway, I am really, really excited about the school that I will be going to, Hollins University!! Hope that everybody has found a school that they feel this great about. Good luck to all!
