Theft at highschool- makes me sick to the stomach

hey everyone! today during third period, someone went into my locker and stole my cell phone, my cd player, and my TI 89 Calculator. Now I wouldve been fine if he stole the first to things... and only the first two things. But he stole a 150 dollar calculator and that makes me mad. I dont know what to do... and dont know where to start. I have an idea who the thief was. He is a intimidating senior. Now I have no idea what to do. I have already went to the office and reported the robbery on a sheet of paper. Any suggestions of what I should do to punish the man? or make myself feel better of what happend? It would also be helpful if you guys could suggest what i should do about a Quiz i have tomorrow that will help my grade a ton. The reason i ask this is because, my teacher only has spare TI 83s and i dont know how to use them. I only know how to use a TI 89. please any suggestions??

thanks in advance everyone

p.s. what ever happend today made me sick to the stomach. i couldnt understand why anyone would do such a thing. but then again we have a number of stupid people in the world.

buy a lock?

things like this happen all the time at my school, and 1/20 they're actually caught. even with video cameras.

Agreed. Why wasn't your locker locked?

Also, if you don['t have definitive proof about the thief, the school won't do jack.

Well my PE locker isnt like that. there is a built in lock.. and that lock doesnt even work.. pull it one way and the locker pops open.. its like that with most lockers.. im gonna get a new locker. the thief did it to 7 people int he same locker room. he was going on a rampage. =/

how do u know its the same thief?

I was assuming it was the same thief. Tomorrow I will not dress for P.E. until they give me a good locker. I dont care if I get Saturday School.

I bet they told you not to leave valuable stuff in your PE locker... or even your regular locker. You should have listened.

^^ where else would i have kept my TI 89 graphing calculator? in a safe in the teacher's room?

I go to a school of about 2000 and our lockers(academic/regular not PE) don't have real locks. They have combination locks but people know many different lock combos especially by senior year. Also, there are ways around it if you have the right tool and some don't lock tightly ever. I never put anything in my locker that I don't want to loose. I have gotten books stolen out of my locker because people will "break in" but after a slight fight with the school(the locker provided is insecure and it they offer no alternatives I will not be responsible for what is stolen out of it...) I didn't have to pay the replacement cost for any of the books. As for cell phone, wallet, etc... that all gets left in the locked car trunk. If I didn't have to carry my keys I wouldn't but there is no alternative.

On a side note, there was a drug bust at my school yesterday and supposedly they found a "dealer" amount of crack in a kids trunk. There were kids in handcuffs when I left school.

anovice... check ur private messages. i know who you are!

There is a big theft problem at my school. People get stuff stolen all the time, but the school refuses to believe that it's students doing it. I've had probably about 100 dollars stolen, and people's calculators are stolen all the time. Sucks really bad, but I've learned to be really careful about my stuff. Hope you learned to be careful too.

Yeah. Thanks Daria. That made me feel better about what has happend. I will be extremely careful about this after this has happend. Its a learning experience. A 150 dollar one... but its all good. im not paying for it anyway. =)

60 dollar sweatshirt.
3 / 15 dollar CD's on seperate occasions.
130 dollar discman.
150 dollar school digital camera while I was in possession--not my fault, but still.
60 dollars in paintbrushes out of a locked box.

Yeah, I'm ****ed.

when you bring something expensive keep it with you

Im going to the office to ask for a new locker in both PE and regular school. As for my calculator... i still dont know where the heck ill put it. im clueless... im worried about PE. like during that class where do i put my backpack with my calculator?

You could just not go to PE. However, your "peers" may not interpret that the right way, and the administration will certainly not like one of their sheep straying away from the herd.

or, just buy one of these to protect your locker

How about keeping your valuables at home and your calculator in your pocket?
