Things to see while visiting Georgetown?

I know the anxiety of acceptance/rejections letters is dwelling in the back of our mind but on a lighter note I would like to ask what you guys went to see when you visited Georgetown in terms of the area surrounding it. I wanted to get a feel for the atmosphere as a whole. Any good museums, cafes or restaurants I should check out? I'm thinking if I gorge myself with enough food my anxiety will subside a little. Just a thought anyway.

Georgetown Cupcake! Walking distance from the campus and cupcakes that are to die for...also Saxby's Coffee near the campus.

the small boardwalk near the potomac riverfront. Walk distance to Kennedy center where you can watch the sunset from the balcony.

the exorcist stairs, booeymonger, and m street

Be sure to eat at The Tombs on 36th St. As the name implies, its "underground", so you may have to look a little harder to find it. It'll give you a real feel for life at Georgetown.

The Tombs (36th and Prospect)
Exorcists Stairs (36th and Prospect - across the street from the Tombs)
The Waterfront (great views of the monuments)
M street of course

Those are probably the main attractions. You can see McCain's house on 36th and Prospect I believe and Kerry's house on N and 34th. Not exactly sure of those locations (know them by sight, not by address). You can try to look up the location Wedding Crashers was shot in too :-p

If you’re willing to spend some money, hit up Citronelle on M Street…amazing food.

Just take a walk down Wisconsin and M Streets, they’re lovely and fun for people watching. I would recommend eating at Pizzaria Paradiso on M (if that’s how you spell it—it can get crowded but it’s delicious), the Tombs (a Georgetown institution), Booeymonger’s (sandwiches and breakfast, pretty laid back), Wingo’s (if you want fast food) or Sweet Green (salads, and really good frozen yogurt on hot days). Walking around the residential area is also pleasant, the houses are stately and the cobblestones are picturesque. The waterfront in DC is also lovely in the evenings. If you want to go somewhere on the Metro, catch a GUTS bus or the M2 to the Rosslyn metro, or if you want to walk, you can take a 15-minute walk over the Key bridge into Virginia and metro from there.
On the Georgetown campus, if you can, go to the roof of the Village A complex for a view of the Potomac and all the DC monuments and the capital. Also, if you are looking for a quick and CHEAP breakfast, go to any of the Corp (you can ask any GU student about the Corp and he/she can explain) coffee places— Uncommon Grounds in the Leavy center or MUG in the Intercultural Center. They all have plenty of seating and are way cheaper than Starbucks or Saxby’s.
