Hi, I usually have trouble with the SAT essay but I think I improved in my last attempts. I would appreciate if you grade it!

Prompt: Should heroes be defined as people who say what they think when we ourselves lack the courage to say it?

Heroes are not only the people who defend others physically, but also people who say what they think when we lack the bravery to say it. Several examples from history clearly demonstrate that heroism is being courageous enough to give your opinion.

As illustrated by Rosa Parks, just the act of saying what you feel is right is a heroic deed which can lead to beneficial consequences. During her childhood, Parks witnessed and felt the injustice with which African Americans were treated; they were oppressed, denied equal rights and treated unmercifully. For instance, the buses in Montgomery had seats for white people and black people and, moreover, when the seats for white people would end, black ones were forced to get up and give their spots to white ones. One day, however, when Rosa was asked to give her seat to a white passanger, she boldly refused and, consequently, got imprisoned. Neverhteless, had it not been for this heroic act, the American nation, I believe, would have never overcome racial segregation.

Another lucid example is Winston Churchill who demonstrated that saying what you believe can cause the triumph of an entire nation. During the World War II, many British people were afraid to say that they do not support the policy of appeasement and moreover, they did not speak against surrender and defeat. On the contrary, Churchill refused to consider a compromise peace or giving in. In addition, he spoke out and inspired British people to believe in their strength and fortitude and, as a result, Britain actively opposed Adolf Hitler and became one of the winners of World War II. Therefore, Winston Churchill's heorism was the main catalyst of the fight against Germany.

As demonstrated by Martin Luther King Jr, as well, giving voice to your opinion can be the watershed of the course of ana entire nation. Similarly to Rosa Parks, Martin had to endure the numerous hardships end banes of not being equal with others. Nevertheless, unlike the majority of African Americans who lacked the courage to defend their believes in public, King spoke in front of thousands when he gave his memorable speech "I have a dream". Hence, he motivated millions of black ctitizens to fight for what they beleived in and, as an inevitable consequence, the Afro-Ameican population gained freedom and equal rights.

In conclusion, people who say waht they think are indeed heroes. Had it not been for Parks, Churchill, and King, the present would have been more unpleasant and unfair.

So, what's your opinion?
