I go to UT-Dallas and I made a 3.31 in my first semester. My SAT's (taken in high school were M+R 1200 and 1730 w/writing). If I continue making similar grades, do I have a decent chance of getting in? I'm studying political science and trying to transfer to government, but am comfortable transferring to another major. Will I get any sort of preference for already being in the UT system at their number 2 school? Could I transfer earlier? How much coursework do I need?

You’ll be able to transfer once you have 30 transferable hours completed or in-progress. So if you’ve already completed a semester (Fall 2014) at UT-Dallas (let’s say you took 15 hours), and decide to take 15 hours next semester (Spring 2015), you could apply for transfer admission for the following long semester (Fall 2015) - provided that you show enough coursework in progress at the time of admission. Keep in mind that some courses may not transfer, like developmental hours if you had to take any. SAT scores wouldn’t matter, since you’re already in college.
