Hello Everyone,

Just a little background, i had gone through cancer, took a year off, got married, baby daughter due in september etc. Im 23 (just turned) and i am at SIUC, i was sitting here deciding because a couple of the classmates ive made at SIUC have said they are transferring to Loyola etc. (BTW i came here summer 2011, thus far have retaken classes i didnt do well in, precalc and chem 2 both of which i have 95% in the class)

I personally, have taken classes this summer at SIUC, and have found the quality to be outstanding, my professors always sit there, take their time and clarify mistakes i may have conceptually and mathematically in chemistry (my major is Chem). The advisors, they have done nothing but advised me in the right direction, even if they knew it would take an extra step.

Financial aid has been really great about housing etc, ive gotten full amounts of loan grants etc.

The reason why i chose siuc was because of family housing and health insurance. The weather is also nicer than chicago lol.

However, now that im here, and alot of people are saying siuc is bad etc and transferring away, i was thinking about transferring to UIUC, right now, im almost done with my sophomore year, and my GPA is 3.109 not including this semesters classes, at my community college, i had gotten a B in gen chem 2, but now im retaking here at SIUC and ive been scoring 100% on my exams, not because i was lazy then or now, but because i have someone to clarify and help me in my understanding (sometimes i have small conceptual errors) and the fact that my professors have been here to do that has been great.

Granted this is only one semester here, and next semester im taking Calc 1, Orgo 1, and Quantitative Analysis, and im not taking an extra class, but i was thinking to myself should i transfer to UIUC in January?

I am a little reluctant because things just seem to be going really well here, but i feel like SIUC is at the bottom of the chain, but i also feel like their better than NIU or UIC just because i get more individual attention and also because SIUC has always had a premed advising cuz they have always had a medical school.

I am actually unsure of what to do, but i feel like i can be very successful here, ive already met a doctor who is willing to allow me to shadow him in the ER, and i will be doing Chem research next semester, and my daughter will be here in September, so have a packed schedule, and i am DEFF going to raise my GPA.

I was wondering what you guys think i should do.
