My friend wanted to create an account but her email isn't working right now, so she is posting temporarily under my name.

Desired colleges:
- University of Florida
- Florida State University
- University of Central Florida
- University of South Florida
- New York University

APs: Environmental Science, Calculus AB, Studio Art, European History
Courseload: Fairly rigorous

ECs: Debate, Student Government (class treasurer)
Awards: Many local debate awards; attended states/nationals, 4th place at regional science fair

I take it she if from Florida. If so USF, UCF, maybe FSU are all matches. UFL and NYU would be a reach in my opinion. Why is the GPA so low when the SATs are so good?

Stay in-state, since you'll qualify for at least partial scholarship from Bright Futures. No use in going to an equally good school OOS for $$. UF will be a definite reach, especially considering the budget cuts due to FL being broke which is making it even more difficult to get in. FSU and UCF will most likely be your two best options (USF doesn't have a big name unless their cinderella football team continues next season). UCF is a growing college and their political school, Lou Frey, has a good name. FSU's polisci programme is respectable as well. I even know somebody who gave up admission to UF for polisci at FSU.

University of Florida- Reach because of GPA and SAT's

Florida State University- Reach because of GPA

University of Central Florida-Match

University of South Florida-Match

New York University-Very High Reach

Isn't political science much better at FSU than at UF? Both Law Schools are pretty even with UF having a slight edge in the rankings.
