This is the big week for waitlistees

My counselor told me today that we will all be notified about our general status on the waitlist as well as whether we're placed on the extended waitlist at the end of June.

End of June? I guess we're back to that date. -_-

wait-wait-wait-list..OMG

are there any internationals who have been taken off the waitlist? o.O

Sweet, we're like on their ultimate ULTIMATE list of back-ups and they're only going to look at us if they REALLY, REALLY need to. I have to say this is all sort of crushing.

But anyway, I'd already given up hope. I'm telling you, I don't think anything's going to happen at this point.

Sorry for the inordinate pessimism.

so where is everybody going if not Columbia?

I offically gave up, I think if I get a call in June I would just be like forget you, should have called me 2 month earlier

I gave up on Columbia. I'm going to the University of Miami this fall. If I do get accepted into Columbia, I highly doubt I would go unless they had an amazing financial aid offer. But even then I've already grown attached to my school so it would be hard to choose Columbia as my school.

Columbia is like an ultimate dream now...

Haha, alrighty Nickel. (I'm not as observant as I think I am, for sure).

But yeah, so much for Columbia. :P

I'm going to Boston University. ^_^ I'm not sure if I'd go, maybe for the aid I'd go, though I'm still unsure about that. I already put in a lot of cash into Boston U. =/ What with the orientation, plane tickets, deposit, etc.

I know what you mean. Being international, I've invested my time in getting a visa and what not--and if Columbia did happen, I'd need a whole new I-20, and everything'd get confusing. I'm not sure of what's going to happen at this point, really.

so if Columbia has decided not to give us a spot, why don't they just tell us we've been rejected? why are they perpetuating our agony? oh and btw, have any internationals been taken off the waitlist?

yess there are some internationals.....
i know one from Chile, one from Uganda....saw them on facebook Columbia 2012 group.....
Ahhh i am still hopeful about Columbia, last summer i was a part of their Summer Program for High School Students, and I really fell in love with Columbia....even though i am accepted to Duke, and I have to complete pre-registration for fall classes by 23rd, i am still waiting for the waitlist decision :)
and btw i am from Azerbaijan :)

I've heard nothing. =/

has anyone been taken off the waitlist?
people keep telling me that the fact that i havent heard anything is basically great because we're still under consideration

btw if anyone doesnt care anymore or cant go on, please notify columbia promptly of your decision :-)

I don't think anyone's going to get off. I think they'd want to see this thing through to the end. And yes, there are people that have been taken off the waitlist, but they were taken off really early back in May.

when you say taken off you mean turned down right?
obviously people have been taken off.
a carbon copy of me at my school with an almost identical transcript was taken off on may 5.
he was hispanic though, and my guidance counselor told me that the first thing they do after may 1 is use the waitlist to ensure that they meet their minority quotas, so white people and non-athlete/musicians arent really considered much until mid june, just for the record.

no taken off means they have been offered admission
