So I was admitted for the spring semester, and despite that I am still strongly considering Southern California over some of the other better ranked schools I was accepted to.
Long story short, am I able to go to school to one of those better ranked schools for the fall semester, then decide to go to USC for the spring if I so please? USC has a policy where they “don’t recommend” that one does this, but it seems entirely possible, though potentially unethical.
Again, it may sound ridiculous but I just want some answers. thanks.
Congratulations on your acceptance! An interesting question. What I would look at is if any classes you take in the fall semester, wherever you attend, are transferable. It could be that you would spend a lot of money in the fall with no credits to transfer. This may be a ridiculous suggestion to you but if you REALLY want to go to USC why don’t you take some classes at a junior college that you know WILL transfer and cut down your time to graduate? Just a suggestion…
my intention is to give my first college a chance to test the waters and see whether or not I would want to stay, then decide whether or not i take the spring semester at USC. if that helps create any sort of context.
^ Ridiculous. The admissions department is not “the college” and the professors do not make value judgments based on when you matriculated (they have no idea).
OP if you read the threads there are many students who were spring admits and have settled in very well at USC. You should check with USC about articulation of classes taken elsewhere during the fall - you can knock out some of your GE requirements elsewhere. But the university can tell you specifically what will transfer, ahead of time.
