So Columbia says they want a signed copy of the 2007 Tax Returns. What exactly does "signed" mean? Like my parents scribbled their signature on the last page? Or do they mean like a notarized version? Or should I attach a paper saying that these are a copy of my parents' tax returns and have them sign it?

my mom and i signed every page of the tax forms...we probably did it wrong though, but they're "signed"

you're right, this is a dumb question

signed means signed.....for your tax returns to be processed by the IRS you have to sign the last page...THATS the copy columbia wants

don't overthink it!

why would you sign anything...they're not your tax forms!

i hope you're mom actually signed the tax forms in the proper place before photocopying it...otherwise, yes, you did it very wrong

That's what I thought... just making sure... thanks!

And I just looked over my parents tax forms and nowhere did they sign it, sooo... hmmm... more confused now. Although, what I have is the 'TurboTax' print-outs. And my parents filed separately---neither of them signed any of these sheets nor does it show a signature-like item anywhere.

And they get ****ed whenever I ask them for help. ("Hi, parents. I've never done my taxes before, so I have no idea what all this crap is."
"This is the LEAST you can do for us. We're so busy. Here are all the forms we have. Go figure it out.")

I think because they e-filed theirs or w.e that means, they didn't actually sign it... so should I just have them sign the last page of the TurboTax copy anyway---even though it'll just be a random signature in some white space at the bottom of the page?

Also to note is that my mother's signature may as well be a ten-year-old writing a name with the pen in his mouth. She's a doctor---her signature is basically three little loop-like scribbles. Would Columbia see that as a signature or a pen-mark?

....u know you can edit your previous post rather than making three different posts

i see... well when you print it out from turbo tax just have them sign the last page in the box where it asks for a signature

Um, I wouldn't sign and past-date something that was never actually signed at that point. That's bad. I'd just print it out and write "E-FILED / ELECTRONICALLY SIGNED 4/15/08" or something like that in the box.

noone said anything about past dating....sign and date with today's date...its good enough....your signature is just a certification that it's correct.

You never signed it before you submitted it to the IRS, so you'd be sending Columbia something different.

how do we check the status of our financial aid stuff? like whether or not they received it? i was able to check and make sure they got my actual application, but i don't know where to look regarding the receiving of my css profile & stuff

Do we actually have to file for financial aid? The thing on the website?

I did the CSS profile, but I haven't bothered to file for financial aid because I won't get any.

you do not have to submit a financial aid application but everyone always suggests you submit one because you never know how generous the school will be. but of course if your parents make like a million dollars a year then you can be pretty sure that you won't get anything.
