thomas hall

is it really worth living here? the price is inexpensive and the location is great, but the non-a/c makes it avoidable.

has anyone lived in this dorm?

i lived in a quad there last year.
my rent was super cheap, but my circumstances were unique: one roommate moved in but was never there (saw him 3-4 times the whole year), another was kicked out because of rule breaking, and the third withdrew in the last month or two of school. By then, it was pretty awesome.

we had a pretty terrible A/C unit, the room was huge (would have liked to have had a second unit), and i was on a top bunk for most of the year. it was a bad experience during the hotter months. I had to bring my guitar home because the humidity got so bad.

but it was cheap as hell. loved the location. rooms were big. conditions were great during winter. no regrets whatsoever, but i’m moving into sledd next year. i’d recommend doing it for a year, but take into consideration your tolerance for poor living conditions. i wanted to move out about 3 different times, but stuck it out and now its over–with an extra $600 in my pocket.

alrite im glad you can share your stories with me

i was wondering, would a good portable a/c unit make living life more comfortable? lets say, like an a/c room?

ive been wondering, looking at pictures of thomas, it seems it is connected with sledd, is this true? for instance, can i be in thomas and walk into sledd by not going outside

i only hung out with 2 other people in thomas, and i didn’t really see their room during the hotter part of the fall. when i was in there, it wasn’t as bad as my room was, so presumably their AC unit was more effective. their room was also significantly smaller because it was a double, which probably helped a lot. i think its very reasonable to expect an A/C unit to hold a steady temp around 76-78 during 90 degree heat.

no they aren’t internally connected. sledd is floored with halls, while thomas is compartmentalized, so there are 3 floors with 3-5 rooms and a bathroom, and a kitchen on the 2nd floor per entrance. i lived where they connect, and there was no hallway.

ok autumn, thanks for your help.

i fortunately found a double in fletcher WOO!!
