Last week I asked UA about how it was going to handle Thanksgiving weekend applications to the school, since students would not get their “follow up” emails in time to apply for scholarships due Dec 1. (Students need the log-on info from that follow up email in order to apply on MyBAma for scholarships.)

I got this reply from the scholarship office…

*If the admissions application is submitted on November 30 or December 1, then because of the fact that the email will not go until until a day or two later, the student will have an extension to fill out the scholarship application. However, it is best that a student apply for admissions prior to these dates to ensure that their application is received and allows the email to go out so they have time to fill out the scholarship application. *

So, if you’re applying to Alabama this weekend, don’t worry that your scholarship app won’t get submitted on time.

For scholarship consideration…

1) Apply to the school before Dec 1.

2) Wait for the follow up email (usually comes a couple of business days later),

3) Create your MyBama account from the email info,

4) Apply for scholarships. :)

As a “back up,” after applying to UA, I would send an email to the scholarship office scholarships@ua.edu and tell them that you have applied by Dec 1st, and that you are waiting for the email information so that you can apply for scholarships.
