Those who have English004

In this class, are they going to teach the basics such as sentence structure, grammar, and all the other good stuff because I feel I really need the practice because English is my second language. Although I get the concept, I don't know all the proper terms of the English language such defining a preposition, subjuntive form, etc, so are they going to teach that as well?

I also heard that this class is based online, and that you don't need to attend class physically. Is this true?

no you go to class as far as I know its grammar based. :[

Seriously? It’s not just an online class? Guess that other UCR student is misleading… very misleading.

no the discussion is based online but the lecture is in class.
and yes they go over what a verb/noun , diff types of sentences blah blah yeah grammar
online you do reading comprehension quizzes and grammer quizes

I may sound crazy, but that’s cool! I need that extra practice! Don’t hate me. lol

well if its the first time learning it than yeah i guess its not that bad, but in my case i knew just about everything but too lazy to actually check over paper
english 4 i got a b
1a A+
1b A

meh pretty weird

How tough was your English004 teacher?

haha that proves that the UC placement test is too vague . The CSU involves both a mc section and written

While, where on the subject of English. How tough is English 001A?I took AP English Language and Composition my junior year of high school, is it comparable to that?Easier?Harder??Same??

I believe a bit harder. I found it very easy but I got a one in the test. It varies I guess by prof

Yeah I didn’t pass the test either (I got a 2) but I got A’s both semester. Is it mostly writing?

yeah and analysis it the same class except a bit more intense likely

english 1a is pretty easy, usually easy a or b (did a personal experience, and stuff like that)
english 1b was argumentative essays(haha my teacher gave us cool topics like should marijuana be legalized, should porn be taxed, stuff like that)
english4 was hard for me maybe cuz of my professor, most of the class had c’s like one person got an a and like 3 got b’s cuz of how hard they are on grammar

i got an A+ in 1a but i never took ap in high school. i was qualified but i never did.

but i guess it depends, my friend who took ap english and lit junior and senior year didnt do so well in english.
teachers emphasize that they want you to forget what you learned in high school. he didn’t. he did worse than i did.
even though he would write massive amounts, most teachers care about quality over quantity.
i dunno i guess it varies per person, but i’m better at grammar than he is and teachers do care about grammar

“teachers emphasize that they want you to forget what you learned in high school. he didn’t. he did worse than i did.”

That is so sick. That will definitely be good for me because I learned all sorts of rules from elementary to high school

haha that’s so tight, I hated the teaching philosophy of some of my english teachers in high school.

luckycharms949: you didn’t take English 1C?

I didn’t even learn from my teachers. My only good English teacher was from my freshmen year. Then, my writing became progressively worse. :</p>
