I was recently accepted to Auburn University for the fall term. From what I have heard and read, the school seems amazing. I have not visited yet. Any thoughts or opinions about the school?

You need to visit…you will know immediately whether you want to go there. This is why my D chose Auburn over 10 other schools (including Clemson):
- Real sense of family
- HUGE school pride
- So many activities (including Greek life)
- Business school has their own study abroad
- Business school has huge internship opportunities
- Close to big city (Atlanta) but is a college town (bigger than Clemson)
- Students have a down-to-earth-midwestern feel
- Alumni network is huge and well connected for getting a job after graduation
- Little we/they when it comes to OOS students
- Brick buildings (historical feel)

Oh, it’s a great school – friendly, great weather, my D loves her teachers, and loves the honors college. The campus is lovely & well-maintained, safe, and situated in a wonderful town. Go visit, you’ll have fun!

Thank you for the info! I have only heard great things from parents, students, and alumni about AU and will be visiting soon. I’m all about the school pride and big greek atmosphere. Auburn is definitely one of my top choices. How would one rate Auburn compared to most of the other southern SEC schools?

It depends on what you are actually rating … academics? campus size? cost? greek life? social scene? housing? …

U.S News’ website is great for hard-numbers ranking info, but I would use the Princeton Review to get a more holistic comparison of Auburn against other schools in the SEC.

You can also check out *****.com where students tell you the good, the bad and the ugly about their schools. Recognize, though, that what might seem like a negative to one student could be a positive for another.

Im from southern california and i LOVED auburn when i visited!!! i seriously fell in love right when i got there. (they’re not kidding when they tell you that will happen) if you are really into school spirit and pride, greek life and the friendliest people on the planet… Auburn is the place for you GO VISIT.
