Thoughts about March 10th about Exeter Admissions

I Have a Question about Admissions for Exeter: Is it O.K if my EC's are mediocre? Also, is Exeter a little more "felxible" when it comes to EC's? The general overview of my application is that I had an AMAZING interview, (my interviewer told me i got the best score possible) likewise for Recs and Essays too. On the SSAT I scored an 86 overall as well and have some achievements and a hook (I speak Hebrew) What do you think I will see on M10? :( What I thought was an impressive enough application seems bad when in comparison to the applicants on this board, and the EC's have always been my worries!

Theres always a worry especially if you only applied to one school. Just sit tight and wait for the 10th.

What do you think of my application, though?

You can get in w/ your score. Your grades are good. Did you do any charity work? Why do you think Hebrew is a hook?

Exeterr,
try not to worry too much. I’m also an applicant to Exeter, so I understand why it’s hard not to, but it’s only about a week now. We’ll see when the time comes. I wish you good luck! All the same, though you do have quite a good chance, I would start preparing myself for not being accepted, just in case, so you can move on from that setback quicker and easier shall it occur. (And did the interviewer really blatantly tell you that? I find it highly unlikely, not to diminish your credibility or anything.)

By the way, extracurriculars aren’t all that matter…not all of us have access to the same opportunities. Passion is more important, preferably demonstrated passion. In the end, getting into these schools is more about standing out than perfection. Mediocre EC’s can be made up for with strong academics and in-person impression.

Feel free to pm me if you want to rant or anything, we’re all in the same boat and I’ll gladly listen if you ever need to get your worries out.

Yes maddog, I did do charity work, I taught an immigrant to read and write in English, as well as some math.

Intrinsically- Thank you for the comforting post. He did tell me so, by the way. These were his exact words. “You got a one. I gave you the best score possible” Well, I asked him, and I REGRET IT SO MUCH. My brother, who is not applying, told me that I may be rejected in that I thought the interview was a “test”. I am beginning to agree with him, and am scared that I will be rejected because of this. I did so only because I was nervous, which is human and hope he thinks that too. (It is also uncommon, obviously) I know you might think im stupid for this. Think I will be rejected because of this? :(

Look Exie, You did the best you can do. I’m in the same boat. I’m worried too, but worrying is like a rocking chair, you rock and you rock and you get nowhere, as my nana would say. Just sit tight. Whatever the news, you’ll get through it. Good or bad, life goes on.
