Thoughts on an essay?

Normally i look for openings in essays that allow for examples from literature and history in support of my opinion, but on the SAT yesterday, the question was too opinion oriented to really allow for any historical or literary support.
So instead, I made up a story about a fictitious relative of mine and how his situation applies to my opinion.
It was pretty well written and the support was there, so...

How does this kind of thing normally get graded? is it transparent? lol lemme know

If you’re talking about the creative arts one, I agree that it was a bit different. Instead of three examples, I went

1) emotional development - how art can convey emotion (lit, music, visual art “pic is worth 1000 words”)
2) educational - literature=making connections, practicing instrument = dedication
3) social - lullabies, holiday songs, masterful concertos, photography is important, movies, all part of our culture

Wrapped up saying that arts always have been and always will be part of society

Not a three-example style (a bit risky), but I thought it was good and fulled all the space. It’s hopefully enough to get a 10-12.

yeah i mean the only literary example i could think of was Anthem by ayn rand (utility is not necessarily more important than enjoyment - science and math classes aren’t necessarily more important than art classes based on their utility)
