Hey guys, this issue's been bugging me as of late. The main issue I have with attending the UDub is the (comparatively) ridiculous tuition, as compared to local state schools. It's not that it's absolutely necessary for me to transfer, but if I do go the full four years through UW, I'll have gotten some pretty hefty loans. In the event I do end up transferring to Stony Brook, I'll be able to graduate with a measly amount of debt. Just putting it out there, I'm planning on doing either mechanical or materials science engineering.
I wanted to know everyone's thoughts on whether the switch would be worth it. Anyone know how the opportunities compare? Are there research positions aplenty at SBU? How's college life over there? I've never been too big a fan of parties, but one every once in a while keeps me sane. Additionally, how's school spirit? Does the engineering course load differ in anyway from other ABET-accredited schools?
One big thing I hear is that on the weekends, the school "as a whole" dies. How true is this statement? I mean there isn't a massive party scene here at the UW (10% Greeks) so I'm assuming the two should be roughly similar.

Thanks everyone.
