Three Questions

First of all, thank you all for whatever help you can give me. I have three questions:

1) Which major should I apply to at UCB?

I have a 4.0 and have finished IGETC and all seven requirements for Political Economy that I can take, including the two recommended semesters of calculus. That said, I am also considering applying to Linguistics. I got a 3 on the Spanish AP test, have taken four semesters of French, one of Russian, lived in Italy for three months, and am in Germany until May as an Au Pair (I've taken this year as a gap year). Needless to say, language, in general, interests me. Lastly, I am considering applying to Peace and Conflict studies. All topics grab me, though I'm not sure which to major in and probably won't know that until I take a course in each. Keep in mind that I have fulfilled the prerequisites for all three majors, though Political Economy has the most prereqs. So it comes down to this: With which major would I most likely be accepted? Would it be possible for me to switch between any of these majors once I transfer? Is it possible to double major with any combination of two of the three majors?

2) Will a two/three year gap abroad in which I learned two/three languages hurt my chances of getting accepted to UCB or UCLA? Keep in mind that I have a 4.0 and would be applying for a major with an international focus.

I love learning languages and am currently in Germany as an au pair (I've finished all the classes I need and am taking a gap year now). I am considering doing an abroad program to teach English next September in France for 9 months with the purpose of learning French. Afterwards, I am thinking about studying in Italy for the year at the house of a family friend. I don't want to risk acceptance to UCB or UCLA; though, at the same time I want to do this while I'm young and still have the ear for language. I don't want to be a translator or anything like that; it's just a passion of mine to know languages. Would it help if I took one or two online courses each semester while I was away so that there were no gaps in my education history?

3) Would it matter if I applied several years in a row?

1) Only you know the answer to that.
2) No it could only help.
3) Only if it matters to you.
