I'm preparing to take the IIC tomorrow and my TI-89 is acting weird. When I try to factor something, for example 16x-4 (not that I need help factoring THIS expression, but it's an example) i put in factor(16x-4). The calc then "responds" with ''Error: Non-algebraic variable in expression". I don't know what to do to fix this. Can someone please help me.
Also, how do you do limits?

Try this:

factor(16*x-4)

When in doubt, always use the multiplication sign. Sometimes it will interpret a term like 16x as one unit (together) and will not take into account implied multiplication.

For limits, the syntax is this:

limit(expression, variable, value that the limit is approaching, direction [positive infinite or negative infinite])

If you need help with the syntax of any other commands, simply hit "catalog," and highlight the function and at the bottom it will give you a short, abbreviated syntax reference.

** Hope this helps! **

If what programmer1324 says doesn't work, just reset it. Never fails. :) Good luck on the test!
