I understand that you cannot use the TI-89 for the ACT. For those of you who normally use a TI-89, what did you use for the test?

I wouldn't sweat the calculator issue. Honestly, all you need is a calculator that can add, subtract, multiply, and divide! Take a practice test if you haven't already -- you really have no need for anything complicated or expensive.

My daughter ended up using a cheap, five function calculator that was convenient because it props itself up and has large buttons.

Whatever you use, be sure it is solar-powered or you have put in new batteries. I have always tried to mention this whenever calculators come up, because my son had his calculator lose its juice in the middle of his Calculus AB test.

i doubt that the proctor will notice if your using a TI-89, but is it worth getting kicked out. Just use a TI-83

just use a scientfic calculator it. they cost $10

I borrowed a friend's TI-83+, although someone who took the test with me got away with using an 89 Platinum/Titanium/whatever it's called. o_O Which looks nothing like an 83 or an 86. I was annoyed, but still got a 34 in math.
