timing is crucial

just making sure, what is the exact deadline for the app? before 11:59 pm Dec. 31?

yes (10 char)

i.e 11:59 pm 31st dec US time right?

ok there's no such thing as US time because if there was then Los Angeles would be in the same time zone as Orlando, right? I'm pretty sure you mean Eastern Time, which is GMT -5:00.

From what I've heard, the deadline is in your own local time-zone.

it says 31st is the deadline. are you guys sure that it is 11:59 pm on 31st (and not 30th). I just found out that I needed to change my CommonApp essay and the xtra day could do wonders.

When schools say their deadline, they mean you have till the last minute of that day. So when they said November 1st, you could submit your app 1 minute before November 2nd. So if they say 31st, just get it in before the peach falls

... If you live in Georgia. I'd say you're safe if you get it in before 2009 in your local time zone. But internet service can go down... common app's servers can go down due to heavy traffic (if lots of people are trying to meet a deadline), so plan ahead (er...in retrospect) and submit ASAP.

If for whatever reason you can't submit it by the deadline, contact the college immediately (or as soon as they got off break), explain your extenuating circumstance. Most colleges are understanding about this. At the very least, pay the application fee before, if you can.
