I'm a junior and i want to apply to College Park next fall. Do you have any tips on what i should try put on my application. Like extra clubs is should join and such; things that will help me stand out from the croud. I have a 1590 SAT(really ashamed of this) and a 25 ACT(not so hott either). I'm involved in Student Government, National Honors Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I occasionaly tutor math. I'm in AP chem, gov, and lang.My class rank is in the top 20% and my GPA is around 3.75. I do volunteer work and have a job. I'm scared my SAT scores aren't high enough and want to know what other things i should get involved in to make my application better. Any Ideas?

If you’re a URM, it’ll be much easier to get in. Try a couple math competitions? Science fairs? Do what fascinates you. If you love football, become a rec coach or volunteer at a camp a pro player hosts. Or, go to a 3rd world country over summer on a mission trip and build homes. You’re SAT/ACT is indeed very low.

Make sure to apply by the priority deadline that is essential. Also you really need to get that sat score up I was admitted with a 1770 and I consider myself very lucky to have gotten in with that score. Do whatever you can to get those sat scores up, UMD cares about the whole package but at a big state school numbers are key. Are u instate by any chance I was an oos applicant.

addymithas- Whats URM? I made it to state level for history Fair and got an award for my project.

invader71- Yes, I am in state and i plan on applying before the priority deadline. I did hear that increases your chances of getting in.
