Tips on being energized in the mornings?

The amino acid L-Tyrosine does a pretty good job of waking me up in the morning and focusing the mind. GNC sells it for about $9 for 60 caps of 500mg. Don't take it with food. You need to take it on an empty stomach about a half hour before you eat anything else. I wouldn't take more than 500mg if you can avoid it, if for no other reason than cost, but you should be able to tolerate 1,000mg.

Don't take it at night, as it can keep you awake.

On top of that, avoid sugary and bready stuff -- eat protein (eggs and the like). Sugar and bread cause a spike in your blood sugar, and then comes the crash. Protein gives you a slow, steady energy burn, not the peaks and valleys.

And it would be really good to get out for a run of at least 15-20 minutes, though if you can only do 5 minutes of sprinting that will be better than nothing.

Prescription:

-500 mg of Tyrosine on an empty stomach
-Run
-Breakfast
-Shower (maybe cold)

That'll do you. And if you need an extra perk, get a latte. And if that regime doesn't help you, nothing will.

Tyrosine can also help you to feel more energetic in general, providing a boost in mental energy, it acts as an overall 'pick me up'! Vitamin B6, folic acid, and copper are necessary for conversion of Tyrosine into the neurotransmitters so taking a good multivitamin and mineral product with meals throughout the day would be prudent.

I'm going to have to wake up pretty early to fit all of this in! I'm guessing I'm going to have to set a 9:00 bedtime.

^ If possible, 9 would be decent, but 10 or 11 would be fine... BedHead's suggestion seems pretty reasonable... Probably won't take more than 45 minutes + 15-30 minutes to get ready... so you are looking at about an hour and fifteen minutes of time in the morning... so say you leave at 6:45... that means waking up at 5:30, which isn't that bad if you go to bed by 10.

SDMS12, why do you keep putting other people down? Just because the poster that posted the same thing you said doesn't mean that you have to insult him or her.

There was an unusually productive mathematician -- I forget his name but he was renowned -- and he regularly took amphetamines throughout much of his life. Apparently, it helped his productivity greatly.

This posting is actually a good recommendation if you can do it without getting caught, avoid the addictions that sometimes go along with it, have the intellectual capacity generally to withstand the toxic effects without too much mind disturbance, and don't end up turning tricks to feed your need.

Otherwise, I would stick with Tyrosine, which is after all a protein that your body already uses and needs and which has no serious side effects other than wakefulness when taken in 1,000 mg plus quantities. It's actually recommended to people who need focus, who are depressed, or who just need the early morn' pick me up.

Yeah, 10 seems ideal. Especially since I need to watch my Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights. :p

I'm thinking 30 minutes to get ready, 10 minutes to shower, a 10 minute run, and a 10 minute breakfast. So, that's about an hour ahead of the time I have to leave. I don't have to leave until about 7:00, since they don't let us in the school until 7:10. So, just to be safe, I think 5:45 is perfect.

^^ Ha, I think I'm going to get it. I need all three. (To BedHead)

And yeah, Grey's anatomy is a must. That's what I'll be doing. I don't have to be at school until 8:10 though (yay for late arrivals).

Personally I think listening to music is a bad idea. Doing that too long while sitting in a car makes me fall asleep

...Upbeat music puts you to sleep? I've never heard of that before...(I'm not trying to put you down, I'm just interested.)

Upbeat music tends to put me to sleep if I'm really sleepy. Any music puts me to sleep, because I need background noise to fall asleep.

Ohhhh, that makes more sense.

Heh. I turn on Gilmore Girls every night (yes, I'm a fanatic) and I end up falling asleep because the episodes are about an hour long.

My television needs to be on at all times. Whether I'm writing a paper, solving a math problem, or falling asleep, my television has to be on. People think it's strange, but even if I don't watch it, I need the background noise to concentrate.

I used to be like that, but I've stopped recently. I need background noise to fall asleep and do math, but not to read or anything.

EAT BREAKFAST.
Take a shower.
Live in the Vermont, where in the winter it's usually -10 in the morning.

coffee
take a jog around ur area for like 15 mins or something
stretch, get the blood pumping

i had algebra 2 first period freshman year at 7:30 everyday...i would turn in homework then sleep from 7:30-8:15 then woke up and attempted to pay attention the last half hour while she was going over and assigning homework...it felt good to sleep the whole period though...i got A's all throughout high school so no complaint...some advice would be to eat a hearty but light breakfast like oatmeal and fruit and drink water...it makes me feel really fresh and alive

take a shower and then watch some tv before school.

Drink a couple bottles of Bawls! That will really hype you up. LOL

Holy s*&%! Don't use energy drinks or soda in the mornings, you lunatics. You get dependant on them and after school you feel like crap. I just drink a cup of tea in the mornings, but I know not everyone likes tea.

Get enough sleep. This means don't spend hours on CC at night, heh.

Eat breakfast. It doesn't even matter what you eat, as long as it's not total junk like a KitKat bar.

I find it harder to get up in the wintertime, when it's cold outside so I drink something hot and go take a quick shower.

^Rude much? Just because we have different routines than you doesn't make us "lunatics".

I don't know who you've been talking to but I'm not at all dependant on soda or energy drinks and I drink them all the time. I've had days where nothing was available to me but water and I was perfectly fine.
