Got a callback to pace university’s commercial dance program. At the time, I was super stoked because this is my number one school on my list, but I heard that a lot of people get callbacks and don’t get past the audition which scares me so much! I felt pretty ready for the audition, but am nervous. I am auditioning this Friday. I believe that this is the last audition pace is having before they give out acceptances to the dance program in march. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips for the audition, like ways to make yourself stand out, or get noticed in a good way, what do they look for or want to see from each student? What does the student need to be most proficient in to get accepted? I knew an amazing dancer, probably one of the best dancers I have known in my school that did not make it into their program. I thought possibly because she was big on ballet? I am good at ballet, however I am best in other areas. Would this help me? Also, how hard is it to pick up the combinations such as barre combinations, center, etc? How many times will the teacher go over a combination? How big are the groups that we dance in so that everyone can get judged? What is each class like? Do you across the floor or just get into combinations? How proficient or advanced do you have to be in each style? I am small so I think sometimes it is hard for me to stand out sometimes, and I want to show that I belong there so what can I do to get on their good side or just make sure that I am making a positive influence on the judges so that I can get into the program? I am sorry for all of teh questions but I am so nervous as this program is so competitive and I just don’t know what to expect. I dont know if this will be intimidating or if it will be just like a convention or master class type environment… please help but give me honest answers, don’t just try to ease my nerves! Thanks so much n advance
