Hi, I moved to America 7 months ago with my family (non international student) and I am starting my second semester of college (CC). I pretend to transfer to UC (1st option UCLA). I have a 4.0 GPA and regarding EC I have a part time job as a math tutor and I am planning to volunteer. Since my major is computer engineering I am not doing the TAP. I am participating in the UCDavis TOP program also. I have two questions: 1) Do I have good chances? Because even though I am doing a lot of things I do not feel as enough 2)What else can I do?
Ps:I am gonna be a California resident by aplication time and finished all the prerequisites but not IEGET certified.
Most important is GPA. Try your VERY best to maintain that 4.0 (or even a 3.8) to have very good chances at UCLA. Since you have a job and plan on volunteering, I’d say that’s decent for transferring to UCLA. Only UCB, and UCLA truly consider EC in admissions. I’d say try doing an internship over the summer as well. That’ll look really good on your application.
So to sum it all, GPA is THE most important, then EC are just side dishes that are somewhat important
there is a sticky at the top of the forum that lets you see accept/apply statistics for any UC major or UC campus. There is also the page http://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof17.htm
