I am applying as a freshman to the spring '07 term at some universities. Although I am not a transfer student myself, this is the type of situation that you guys are most likely help me with. Essentially, I have only received an acceptance letter from one school and was wondering if I should contact the other instituions and inquire about my chances/decision or just wait until they contacts me, which could take weeks!. It is important to settle on one school as quickly as possible so that I can expedite the processing of my documentation and living arrangements since I will be going out of state. So the point is, I have to pick a school as soons as possible, but I don't want to go with a certain school without knowing what the others had to say(wether or not I was accepted), especially the original isn't my first choice.

Yes, spring admission might be like transfer admission in that the dates for notification of decisions can be a little more lax. My S made his transfer decision before he heard from one school, but luckily the ones he had heard from included his top choice.

I would do two things if I were you: first, check the websites to see if they give dates for when they will give spring '07 decisions. If those dates haven't passed, I would just wait. If there aren't dates listed, or the dates have passed, feel free to contact the admissions offices by phone or email.

If you can't get answers, you can check whether the school which has accepted you will give you more time to respond. If they're not pressing for a response, you might have to be a little patient.

Re the housing - will you be living on campus? If so, those arrangements won't happen until you receive the acceptances, right? Processing other documentation - I'm not clear on what your concern is, unless you are out of the country.

Hope you get some quick answers. Waiting is agonizing, I know.

jmmom, thanks for the support. Yes, I meant housing applications and loans as well as other fincancial documents required by the school. Most impotantly, I want start making plans since the schools that I applied are all in different states. This schools does have a deadline to pay the deposit and confirm enrollment that is rather lenient. Nevertheless, the spring term starts early for the other schools that I applied. Thus, it would be fantastic to know what my options are in order to know what to expect in terms of tuition, housing, honors applications, etc.

correction- especially SINCE the original isn't my first choice. Sorry about that.

Good luck. Like garland said on the PF thread, we also had to contact some schools. Some were able to give answers, a couple were just moving slowly and couldn't give an answer. But no one thought it out of line to ask for the decision.
