Did you get any email today? I have got this email, asking me if I made up my mind or I still want to remain on the wait list, because they are looking into the waitlist. Didn't look like a generic email from an email like admissions@stanford.edu or something, but I am not sure if it was sent to everyone. So, that's the question, did anyone else get it?

what was the email of the sender if not from admissions@stanford.edu?

I am on the waitlist and did not get this email. Maybe this is a good sign for you. Did you accept the waitlist offer and submit any updates? How aggressively did you try to get off the waitlist?

considering that email is from your regional admissions counselor, I would agree that this is a very good sign indeed. Ihdb: alone is an international student, maybe the procedure is slightly different (quota for international students, perhaps?)

It’s a good sign for all of us that they are looking at the waitlist!

could be that this year they will actually draw from it. :)

Yes, it is a good sign. any idea how many they waitlisted this year?

david lazo would be your admissions officer. its a very good sign if he’s personally sending you an email to see if you want to be considered for the waitlist - i don’t see why he would send one of he didn’t want to pick you, if you do decide to stay on the list.
but i could be wrong.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I am an international applicant, so maybe other international WL people got any emails? The fact that it came from

That’s awesome, congrats!

David Lazo is the regional admit officer for Europe, Colorado, and part of California. He’s a really cool guy. Good luck getting in off the waitlist! It’s an honor just to be there, remember!

Thanks again, but I think it’s a little premature to say anything at this point in time - the email just asked me if I made a plan to attend any specific college (which I assume means that I not only sent the deposit as I was supposed too, but also plan on going there regardless of waitlist acceptances), and asked if I am still interested in attending Stanford. It also stated that they are “currently exploring the possibility of moving to the waitlist this year”, so I guess it’s not for sure either. I would still be happy to know if any of other waitlisted internationals got similar emails. I will post here as soon as/if I get a reply.

Well, I’m not an international, but I do live overseas. My counsellor’s Michael Elgarico, and I’ve received a similar e-mail asking to see if I’d like to stay on the waitlist for potential review. Good sign or not, it’s great to hear of SOMETHING other than a rejection…

Oh, yea, that’s definitely better than silence. I guess the question know is if they send it to all international/overseas applicants, or not. It would be helpful if other waitlisted internationals/overseas students would share info about receiving or not receiving this email.

Nope, I haven’t got it, although I’m not sure whether he would be my regional officer. Mine is a woman, I think.

My counselor received a phone call today from Stanford and the conversation followed the same lines as the email that some of you have received. Ah so does anyone know what they’ll do if they do get off the waitlist? (knock on wood)

OK, this is strange, MY COUNSELOR got the email you got, Alone. I didn’t get anything. He just called me to tell me that he had received an email and now I don’t know what to think. Idk, has anyone NOT gotten a call on here? Seems like everyone has. Good job, everyone!

Ok I guess it’s same for everyone then. I wonder why they check internationals specifically.

Well, we don’t know if it really is everyone on the waitlist got a call/email. It could just be the 5 of us on here.

Alone, where in Europe are you from? I’m konfoozed because I’m actually Brazilian. I just live in Europe at the moment and always thought I fell under the Latin American category.

Haha, could be, but the probability of that is low I think. I am from Azerbaijan - south-east Europe/West Asia/Middle East :)

I’m a domestic applicant and I got an email too, from my regional rep. It said something about gauging my interest before re-presenting my case to the committee? Lol, I guess I kinda want to know whether they actually sent one of these to everyone…
