Didn’t your counselor type her email herself (when she completed your evaluation, she did it online, right?)

Could you please post this excerpt from the email? Mine just asked about my motivation to go to S, did not mention how much of us they are considering.

Ahbao, sapphire_ocean, ikari, Modulation, did you check with your counselors if they got a call/email?

My counselor said that his email went along the lines that “there are few left…will vouch for at admissions committee”. Are they going to have to do the whole process all over again?

“You are among the very few we have an interest in considering at this point, and while I can offer no guarantees, I would like to re-present your case to the admission committee.”

that was the quote.

no they aren’t doing the process all over again. committee is the last step in most admissions offices. these officers have been looking over files since april 1st (after some celebration of course) finding waitlist cases to revisit should they need to pull from the waitlist.

Has anybody from GA or IL heard from Taryn Upchurch? I’m holding onto a sliver of hope that it may only be certain admissions officers who’re doing this… >_<

“We expect to admit a small number of students from our wait list late next week. To meet our target of enrolling no more than 1700 freshmen next fall, Stanford expects to admit approximately 80 students from our wait list. Students admitted from the wait list will be informed of their admission decisions via email. In addition, we will provide an update for the remaining students holding a space on our wait list at the same time we notify this small group of admitted students. In the interim, students should refrain from calling the Office of Undergraduate Admission about their status on the wait list, as we can provide no additional information and we are no longer accepting any updates from applicants holding a space on our wait list. Students should also refrain from submitting additional letters of recommendation and/or writing samples.”

AHHH!

exciting! :D

My counselor called Stanford today to talk to them about the e-mail thing and she spoke directly with my regional director. The regional director told me “not to give up hope” whatever that means.

Oh, I guess emails vary from rep. to rep. then. It’s exciting to hear that they are expecting to enroll about 80 students – it was projected to be about 20-30, if I do not mistake. Considering 600-700 students chose to remain on the WL, it’s a much higher acceptance rate.

i originally stayed on the waitlist on a 3AM whim just in case. so in my case, i didn’t even fill out the form. i left it completely blank and clicked ‘send.’

it looks like they are really making sure the people they take from the waitlist are really committed (my counselor told me today that she got a call in addition to my email), so im sure (or at least hope) people like myself who are quite happy with their final decision would back out and increase the chance for everyone else.

I just filled in additional info and sent it to them… I mean they ask you in bold not to send anything additional on that page, why would anyone do that?
